The problem for me is not cuz he's blue. And I don't mind Will Smith but I do mind that he isn't changing his character he sounds like him self, he doesn't sound like a genie in the trailer. all I see is French Prince of Bel-Air. The acting is more like himself and not the genie it doesn't fit the character. if you're going to play this you need play the genie act like him talk like him I don't want to see this character (will smith) that we all love I want to see the genie. Act like an actor.

I was actually very excited when I heard Will Smith was playing Genie. I loved the original animated Aladdin and I've always been a big fan of Robin Williams. I felt if anybody could fill those shoes, it was Will Smith. Then the trailer hit and he opened his mouth.
I'm not bothered about how he looks. I dunno what people were expecting in that regard. I care more that the first lines that you hear him speak just sound like Will Smith talking like Will Smith.

The only problem i have with it is. HE'S SUPPOSED TO BE A F##%in Genie. he looks to human. he should be glowing like the Genie does in the original. he doesn't have the vibe of a genie without that glow. the cgi is fine. its no better than the hulk in Avengers. but he is just missing that punch that should give him the genie vibe. in fact he just looks like a gentle giant HULK. that's whats ruined it.

Personally is not that big of a deal with the genie I care about how Aladdin looks like they could have chosen a better Aladdin I don't really care how Jasmine look but Aladdin he just. he ain't living up to it YET and at the end of the day no one can replace the original genie but he's not here so being upset about the actor nobody's going to be able to embody it like he did.

Should have gone mocap, replicated the look from the original (was always a little sketchy with mocap / cgi results but thanos was great, saved that movie). Dan Castellaneta to voice. A lot of kids grew up with him doing the voice in the series anyhoo.
I cant imagine Ill be able to watch this without constantly being taken out of the movie thinking hey, thats blue will smith

Is it just me or have recent movies been having a hard time casting villains? The actor they chose for Jafar is alot stranger than will smith's genie. Jafar looks like hes some suave crime boss on a daytime soap opera. 1: 06 how is that face menacing in any way? Shouldn't Jafars outward appearance reflect his inner ugliness?

If they just kept Will Smiths normal skin and just made his MAGIC blue, it wouldve been less terrible. And Im honestly not impressed by Jafar or Aladdins supposedly dirty, poor, raggedy clothes. AND, WHAT IS WITH ALL OF THESE LIVE ACTION REMAKES! IM SO NIT GONNA WATCH DUMBO! Although i still kinda wanna watch Aladdin.

They ruined it! Will Smith is not a character actor, plus it looks like he's wearing some sort of surfing body suit. Jafar should be WAY older than this guy is, Aladdin is supposed to be homeless, where did get that nice outfit from. Homeless-Are-Us! This once beautiful cartoon just got JACKED!

I'll be saving my money on this one. With all the creative minds in Hollywood, why are studios reworking classic movies as live action? Can't anyone out there come up with any new ideas? And by the way. in my opinion, there is, was, and will always be, only ONE genie, and that is Robin Williams.
