Why Indiana Jones 5 Bombed At The Box Office

Why Indiana Jones 5 Bombed At The Box Office

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny was supposed to be a graceful swan song for the beloved adventure hero, but it instead seems to have been a poor choice. Here's why it's not clicking with audiences like expected. LaiFong: Reasons I'm not going to see Indy 5:
- bad reviews from trusted reviewers (broken old Indy constantly insulted by snarky goddaughter)
- Phoebe Waller Bridge - seriously, can't they find any other prettier, more likable actress? Heck, I'd take Shia back instead of her. Despite everything, I still like Shia
- CGI fest according to reviews
- ill will towards Disney/Lucasfilm - burn me once with Star Wars I'm twice shy about Indy
- this is not the Indy 5 movie I want to see. The Indy 5 movie I've made up in my head involves Indy, Marion + kids or grandkids going on an archaeology adventure like some good mix of National Treasure, Relic Hunter and Tomb Raider. Indy teaches the young ones the ropes, provides support like Bobby does to Dean & Sam, and eventually passes the torch to a young Jennifer Love Hewitt-looking granddaughter.

It s like 12 bucks to see in movie theatres. Come on you don t have 12 bucks? Purchasing the movie on dvd is double that!
And renting on streaming is about 40% of that 12 cinema fee.
If u have scotias Scene, it s free.
Just gotta pay that 12 for
Popcorn and soda.
Getting to see on big screen, with big comfy chairs, and the d Box for those who want: u know the reactive seats that are mobile and vibrate, some
Even have scents and smoke for relevant parts.
I d say that s a cool / great experience.
As far as the sitting next to strangers, just bring a couple
Of
Friends.
And I kinda like that we watch with strangers but whom
Also have similar taste, obviously seeing as we are all
Watching and enjoying this new
Experience together.
Maybe it s cuz I don t get
Out much, but I think certain movies deserve watching on the big silver screen. Heck that s precisely what these blockbusters are designed for.
I HAVENT SEEN IT, but I m going to.
It will cost me
Nothing but the concessions, being a scene+ member.
WELL WORTH IT!
25 bucks for a solid 3
Hours of fun and anticipation.
Come
On
Who doesn t have that for a one time a month experience.
Plus most theatres now sell full Pints and even Wine.
So u can bring your own and not even worry about getting in trouble.
That and a little puff puff prior. That s a great time ime!

Is that how they judge a movie's success - in the first 5 days only? I saw it at the drive-in theater and I thought it was a lot of fun, action-packed from first moment to last. I loved Phoebe Waller-Bridge as his goddaughter - she's a great actor, and Ethann Isadore as Teddy (the modern Short Round ); both excellent editions to the franchise and finale (if that is what it is. I could totally see them running with a series of films - or a series - with Waller-Bridge as the star, out on adventures going after treasures. If they do, I hope they hire Josh Gates as a consultant!

I see a quite a few woketards on here, probably paid agents, saying this movie is good( yeah they actually DO pay people to manipulate others) I d be interested in a poll of how many of these fans were alive when the original came out and how many are basically new. NOBODY who saw the original Spielberg when it came out could possibly be down with this trash!

It's not the movie that flopped. It's the cinema experience that flopped since you get movies so quickly on streaming services. Why pay extortionate fees and listen to people chomping on popcorn when you can watch it for cheaper in the comfort of your own home.
The movie itself is kinda ok. Certainly better than the last movie.

It's simple: treat the characters with respect and you in turn respect your audience. Dial of Destiny, like may other Lucasfilm and Hollywood properties, doesn't do this, instead giving us another bitter old man who's depressed and past his prime, only to be shown up and pushed around by an annoying, younger sidekick. No thanks.

I use to love indianna jones and star wars but what disney has done to them is just making them unejoyable, i dont get pleasure watching anything they make now. It feels preachy when all i wanna do is watch an adventure unfold in front of me

I can't stang going to theaters with annoying people talking and kids throwing stuff. People ruin movies. I wait for them to stream. Yes. I miss the big screen experience but if they annoy me at home i can make them leave

Mutt's character was killed off after Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls and before Dial of Destiny. At the scene where they are at the tomb, is when the bad guy informs Indy of the loss of his son. Its messed up though

I went to see it with my dad, and we both didn't like it. It has its good moments, scattered especially the first 20/30 minutes but the film is too long and the ending feels like a retcon of the last one

Killing mutts was a bad idea hopefully he might have married early and have a daughter name Caroline which have been the reason Marion got over his death other than Sophie helping her.

I went to see it the other day and the cinema was busy, at least half full and this was midweek and during the day. It is leagues better than the fourth film.

Our indian hit movies rocking at box office
It's not about Cinema going down
It's all about movie s output

reply

Yeah, back in the day, you'd have to wait like a year until the movie was available for purchase. You'd have to wait for the VHS rental market to die down.
reply

I've only heard good things about it from people who have gone to see it. It's not even been out for a week, so I'm not sure how it's already bombing?
reply

One of the main reasons why The Flash bombed was because a lot of people do not want to support Ezra Miller. So that's kinda different.

Some classic should be left alone like Back to the Future. No sequels, prequels, remakes or reboot. It belongs in the museum!
