You may not even have heard of Hyperemesis Gravidarum but its an illness that affects up to 2% of pregnant women! Kate Middleton's struggles with this illness have been in the news, and we feel that many more people should be educated on the disease. When pregnant women begin experiencing extreme symptoms, its likely that their first thought is that something might be wrong with their baby. Luckily, having Hyperemesis Gravidarum is not inherently dangerous for your fetus. The biggest misconception about Hyperemesis Gravidarum is that it is simply extreme morning sickness. Hyperemesis Gravidarum is something caused by elevated hormone levels that is diagnosed by a doctor after ruling out other options

I'm only 8 weeks pregnant rn but found out when I was 6 weeks and was hospitalized for a week and diagnosed with Hyperemesis Gravidarum. I'm so thankful for all of the new awareness being spread and the fact that more people are starting to realize what it is. Because nothing makes you feel worse than thinking it's all in your head or that you're just being dramatic. This is such a crippling disease for most women who have it and people need to be aware of how bad it actually is! Definitely spread awareness of HG.

my mom might have had this when I was a baby, but that was back in the 80s and they didn't know about it much, because she said that she actually had morning sickness all of the way up to the eight month, and lost so much weight that no one believed she was pregnant until it finally subsided in the last month and she got super round real quick.

I am 9w3d pregnant with my 2nd baby and I got diagnosed last night. I went to the ER because of how weak HG made me. I was cycling rapidly between sweating and shivering, trembling, dry heaving, couldn't hold down food or fluids, couldn't sleep, and could hardly walk. I was aggressively dehydrated from it.

This is my first pregnancy, Im 12 weeks and Ive lost 30 lbs. I cant eat or literally drink anything. I vomit almost 25 times a day. Ive had multiple hospital visits, cant take my prenatals, and blacked out once. Ive been bed bound all day and night. This is the worst pain Ive ever experienced

Her name is NOT Kate Middleton anymore!
Her name is Catherine, the duchess of Cambridge and has been ever since she got married with Prince William, the duke of Cambridge. Get your facts correct, Ms. Mojo.

I've had it for my last two pregnancies. Thank science for anti nausea pills. But it's crazy that I'd get so sick, that opening my mouth to talk resulting in throwing up. I've had to get several IV drips.

I have a friend who suffered from HG during her entire pregnancy. She was hospitalized almost on a monthly basis. It was terrible. Thankfully she delivered a healthy baby and is fine now.
