Carrie. who may not actually be a hero depending how you look at her.
Not really. I love Carrie and I identify with her because of the bullying and I root for her in the prom scene, but. she is not a heroine.
It's like saying that the kid shooters from the Columbine Massacre were heores. So. were they?
Andrew from Chronicle is very similar to the Carrie from the novel, and, funny thing, he is regarded as a villain in the movie.
Sue Snell is the actual heroine here and the Sue Snell from the 2013 adaptation was the best Sue from all movie adaptations, and she is actually who deserves the title of heroine, even though everything goes wrong.

Sure, Carrie made turn her hometown into a graveyard. But can you blame her? They abused her for 16 years (I dont remember her age) for petty reasons. Especially her mother who knew her powers and she kept abuse her (which I facepalmed saying: What an idiot. And what if an innocent bystander get caught by her wrath? Well, in my school they taught me that if someone does something naughty (cruel pranks, toilet paper in the wall, blowing up toilet and so on) and the culprit isnt found, everyone gets punished, innocent included

I don't find Carrie as the hero of the novel/film. Sure, the story is about her unfortunate life as a teenager who was bullied all the time and was abused by her mother, but she killed dozens of students as a revenge towards Billy and his girlfriend Chris. The situation could have gone much worse if Margaret didn't stab her daughters back which caused Carrie White to now truly bleed to death. I hate to say it but I think that the religious crazed Margaret White is actually the hero in Carrie.

I loved this list! But please do one for his novels too; I just finished Mr. Mercedes, and I feel as though Holly Gibney desperately needs to be on a heroines list. A woman who is probably on the autism spectrum and has crippling anxiety who is able to help hunt down a serial killer? Shes amazing! Plus, this is my own opinion, I feel as though Wendy Torrance from The Shining was way cooler in the book too.

I'm very happy Carrie is #1. Fave movie of all time. She is iconic for the whole tragic element - she is a hero as she wants to have a better life, but it all ends in tragedy. Her murdering her tormentors including innocent people, standing up to her repressive mother and her house collapses.

I would agree about Wendy Torrance in the books, but in the movie adaptation? come on! She onyl screams! Danny is the hero of the movie, not her. King himself has complained about this change, proclaiming how the character has become a cliche in the movie!

Great list, I really liked it! But what about the protagonist from Big Driver? She was raped and survived her attempt of murder and took revenge on the whole family implied in this event.

In the 2013 version of 2013 Carrie, she more of a hero than the 1976 version of Carrie because the 2013 version she saved Sue and Mrs. Desjardin. I would sort of count her as a hero.

I dislike this list, because Carrie was no heroine. She had a rough past, but she's a monster for killing them, especially the ones who actually were innocent, and that is no heroine.

Although it's from a novella and not a proper novel, Tess from Big Driver (Full Dark, No Stars) should have definitely been on this list.

The only thing I kept thinking about was how the actor that played Jane played Anne in Anne of Green Gables. My childhood.

If were talking novels, Susannah Dean is actually the greatest heroine. Her character arc is inspiring.
