Okay, I have to strongly disagree with you on the comments regarding pens. I don't expect that every pen I touch should be a Bic Atlantis (my favourite ballpoint, and I acknowledge that there are plenty of off-brand stationary products that are perfectly fine; but when it comes to ballpoint pens there are also plenty of off-brands which are terrible. Sometimes they skip, sometimes they don't write at all. The Studio brand which I usually see at Dollarama is okay, but if I'm looking for a pen at a dollar store, I've learned not to buy any brand I'm not familiar with.

I wouldn't buy dog toys from a dollar store, yes they don't care but they are usually low quality and can be destroyed too easilly by most dogs. A good quality and solid toy can be expensive but at least they will last way longer for dogs that just destroy toys. Other pet accessories, maybe depending on what they are (cat toys are mostly ok since cats are less destructive than dogs.

I work at Dollar General and they don't even give us discounts, but let me tell you.
School supplies, party supplies (depending on occasions) can go down to more than a penny. Even the shoes and clothes.
But, we don't have everything for a dollar so I guess that's why they call it Dollar General in general there are things for a dollar, but not everything.

With things like food and cleaners, you have to pay attention to the sizes. The dollar stores near where I live usually carry smaller sizes of such products than what you'd find elsewhere. Paying a dollar for the item in that case may actually be more expensive per ounce than if you bought the same thing at a grocery store.

Every once in a while, I'll find books at a dollar store. I don't like detergent, for dishwashers, sold at the dollar store, but if I'm getting regular detergent, for hand washing, the dollar store is good. I also don't like laundry detergent, from dollars stores. I do like cleaning supplies, from those stores.

You should have made a top 5 list about this instead. To me, the only things that are worth buying at the dollar store are party supplies, holiday decorations, wrapping paper, note books, small toys and candy. Kitchen tools, are probably the worst items to buy there.

I wish my dollar store was this well stocked. The products are just thrown around the section. I blame the customers, but still if it was better put together I would definitely shop there more

My Nama ( Grandma) loves the dollar store for our birthday cards. She will say it came from the dollar store and we are like its a card thats all that matters.

I would also add pregnancy tests and ovulation tests. They are cheap and work I have used them all four times I've been pregnant.
