I'm glad Spirited Away beat Akira in the numbering, I find Spirited Away more good to watch because it's a little more easy to understand on what's going on and it's less violent and has no swearing. I wish it was the first anime to reach America and not Akira. Who Framed Roger Rabbit was good too, I wish there were more movies where cartoons and live-action combine to make good adventures and funny moments in movies. When I first saw Fantasia, I was a little confused about why the characters did not talk. But then I realized that it was the music they were concentrating on, and I soon grew to enjoy Fantasia very much, even the 2000 sequel. I wish they would make another Fantasia movie some day. I am not surprised that Snow White became number 1, since it's the very first 2D animated movie that started the whole Disney career. I wish Disney would still do 2D animation and make less computer ones, and also stop making all the live-action remakes.

CAPTURE THE FLAG (Spanish academy award winning animated film) made intense and engaging NASA elements when it comes to two young scouts/surfers having no choice but to go together accidentally as 2 stowaways (instead of one, who had intention to save his family values) in the Apollo rocket along a veteran astronaut who had a broken dream in going to the moon, and with a crucial goal in saving the historical flag from an evil billionaire oil energy farmer.
THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS made a fascinating use of originality and creativity to its story and made revolutionary use of modern stopmotion animation with even a historical visual effects nomination at the oscars

Disney's Folly: That's what the industry called his bonkers plan to create a full-length cartoon. He ran out of $$ during production, and did something he'd never had to do before: Apply for a bank loan. DURING THE GREAT DEPRESSION. When almost NOBODY could get loans for anything. He set up a projector in the bank manager's office, and screened whatever he had up to that point, whether it was finished animation, pencil tests, or storyboard pics. He sat trembling, waiting for the reaction. The banker was literally crying when he turned the lights back on. It's going to be an enormous success -- how much money do you need?

A movie that should have been on this list is Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (2002 studio Ghibli, Hayao Miyazaki) due to it's orginal English release where it is named Warriors of the Wind (New World Video) in 1984. The original English release caused such an issue that it wasn't allowed to be re-released for almost 20 years. If you wanted to see the movie in full prior to that you had to have an import.

I think Inside Out was a really important movie. Maybe it didn't revolutionize the film industry, but it did highlight an extremely important message for kids and adults. All of your emotions are okay to feel. Don't be afraid to be sad. Don't bury your feelings so deep down that you cease to have any at all. Tell people when you're hurting. Such a meaningful lesson for everyone to hear.

Snow White was one of the first films I ever saw. It was also the first film with a villain that I both feared and liked as a child (the Queen was one of the reasons I watched Snow White - scary enough for me to admit it, but not to scary as to avoid it.
Though The Lion King might be the first Disney film I ever saw. That or Cinderella.

ParaNorman in 2012 featured a gay character. Not even a side character, nor was it it hinted at. He was a main character and explicitly mentioned his boyfriend. As much as Disney progresses on some aspects more than others, dont give it too much credit about this by listing Zootopia and not ParaNorman for an LGBTQ+ character.

Not even a mention of Sleeping Beauty? It was the first animated film made in widescreen. The years it took, the money spent and experimental techniques to make it happen nearly drove Disney bankrupt. It might have ended the Golden Age of Disney, as well as princess movies for 30 years, but there was nothing like it.

Hey MsMojo, I hate to break it to you, but Who Framed Roger Rabbit is NOT an animated movie. It might have animation in it, but it takes place within a live action setting and therefore doesn't count. You'd've been better off putting The Little Mermaid in that spot instead. You know, an actual fully animated movie.

I wanted spirit the stallion of the cimarron to be one of these movies. Its the only animated movie in which animals are protagonists and dont talk at all. also the bad guy accepts spirit's victory and does not get punished or killed as it happens to villains of other films.

Spirited Away shouldve been closer to number 1. Not only did it make millions, it told a story in a way no other animated films have before. The topics and emotions in that movie are unlike any other. It still hits me every time I watch it.

Without Snow White there would not be full length animation of any type. that includes Japanese animation, which took many of its concepts from Disney films. That is why Snow White is such a bad ass. Thank you for putting that film into number 1.
reply

Actually, the first full-length animated film was The Adventures of Prince Achmed, a German film made in 1925. Snow White and The Seven Dwarves was the first full-length animated film with sound.

I have the strange feeling that Frozen included an LGBTQ+ character before Zootopia and I'm not talking about Elsa. It was the guy from the store where Anna and Kristoff met.
reply

paranorman should be on there instead of zootopia, i didnt even know those characters were supposed to be lgbt. paranorman had a character outright say he had a boyfriend smh

Disney did Mary Poppins (which blended live-action and animation) before Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Both are iconic but I wish Mary Poppins was mentioned: )

Whats awesome about Who Framed Roger Rabbit: It has both Disney AND Warner Bros characters in it, plus characters from Fleischer Studios like Betty Boop!

What about The Great Mouse Detective? The Black Cauldron? Or Disney's Hunchback Of Notre Dame, Ratatouille(I hope I spelled that right) and Mulan?

The Secret of Nihm should have an honorable mention for being proof that children's movies can have dark imagery.
