Dated to say the least, these are the game shows that wouldn't get made today. Our countdown includes The Chair, Man vs. Beast, Queen for a Day, and more! What game show do YOU think would have trouble getting made today?

The Swan, which was already on one of your lists, the original Extreme Makeover, and Bridalplasty. There were representatives from Allure Magazine at the auditions for The Swan trying to convince the girls not to go through with such an awful idea. These shows set back women's self-esteem by decades by telling us we need to drastically change our appearance to be beautiful, have love, and be accepted. Also, Who Wants To Marry A Millionaire and the one show in which women tricked their boyfriends into marrying them on national television. Married At First Site is one show on the air today that really isn't a good idea.

Well, i'm just gonna go out and say that it's quite obvious that such game shows like the ones that are being featured in the video, along with so many other different TV shows out there, just won't EVER get made these days without any backlash whatsoever due to, ummmm, OF COURSE today's ever changing social climate. And some of ya'll can whine, complain and even defend these shows all you want BUT at the end of the day though, ya'll just gotta remember that we are living in way much more different times now and shows like these will cause a whole lotta major backlash if it were to be aired today as it is.

I came here to see if the chamber was number one, very happy it is, sure changes could be made to make it better like making the chamber less hot or less cold, have the contestants win more money than a measly 1k for each correct question, and let the contestants decide if they want to go in the hot or cold chamber instead of a computer choosing at random, but that wouldnt excuse it for trying to end lives just to win petty cash, no wonder why it was canceled after three episodes

this new show out now called show your voice is worst then that identity show at #5. they say nothing, and are assumed to be either be a good or bad singer. and the more times the contestant guesses right, they get money and if the last person is wrong, they win nothing. huuuge waste of my time to get to the end of that shit show for her to win nothing. and i felt bad for every person on there for being so harshly judged

I remember fairly recently there was a show called The Briefcase, it's whole premise was 2 struggling American families were each given a briefcase containing 101, 000 dollars. They were then given a 3 day period of interaction to decide whether they wanted to give some or all of their money to the other family.
The whole thing was trying to present exploitation of the poor as heartwarming TV.

Check out the U. K. dating show Naked attraction. Theres 1 picker and 5 choices and they show their bodys from the feet up and the picker has to pick who they want a date with just from looking at their naked body. This is on mainstream T. V. which shocked my American friends as they arent even allowed to show women top less on mainstream T. V.

the reason most of these wouldn't work today boils down to the fact that social media didn't exist as it does today when most of these aired.
Back then - backlash consisted of a few angry letters and phone calls made to the networks - but in today's society it's easier than ever to get people worked up by way of a social media shitstorm.

The Man vs Animal on e is only bay if the animals were harmed. The critters themselves don't see themselves as being exploited. Animals don't think that way. Not that I find a need for that sort of program anyway, but PETA and related groups don't make any sense when they use the argument that the animals are exploited.

NGL I loved The Chamber and was worried it wouldn't make the list. XD I'd love to see a revival but it would need a major overhall (more money, go up to a million and no pay cuts; and less danger, only keep the temperatures but not quite as extreme and/or let contestants dress accordingly.

If I took a polygraph exam for The Moment Of Truth, the idea of me currently undergoing a polygraph exam would make me nervous enough to spike my heart rate, blood pressure, and sweat, glands. So even when I'm being honest, every answer I give might might come up as a lie.

Also, Queen for a Day looks like it was made by some misogynistic prick who thought hey, what if we make women who are going through awful stuff cry because people feel their problems are not as bad as someone else's. And put it on tv for our own entertainment!

I had one game show concept sitting in my desk drawer that would probably not be considered these days: contestants would be hooked up to an electric wire that emits a mild jolt if they gave a wrong answer to a trivia question. The working title? Cash or Charge?

Im surprised to not see any mean spirited/deceptive shows on here like joe millionaire or that one gay bachelor type show where some of the guys were straight but the main dude didnt know til partly in. Of course the swan or ugly duckling.

I'm Surprised The Family Didn't Make The Cut A Show Where An Entire Family Battles For Money Comple With Eliminations

I remember when I was a child if my sister or I came up with a sob story about a bad day at school my mom would say well that makes you queen of the day now go do your homework I know what happened the called me

There was a show in the early 2000s that I VAGUELY remember called Hes a Lady where 10 macho dudes had to become women and whomever was best, won some money. no way that would fly today.
reply

I don't think Weakest Link would be made today. The host's comments to the 'losers' were cringy back then and would be considered cruel now - body shaming, age shaming, homophobic, etc etc

I remember one called Hot Seat when I was a preteen. People were asked humiliating questions. I only watched one episode and even then I wondered why anyone would ever go on that show

Queen for a Day is literally the basis for every major competition show. American Idol, Americas (or Britains) Got Talent, The Voice. theyre all about who has the saddest story.

In belgium, they once made a game show about who would get a dying woman's kidney after her death.
There were many protests agianst it, but it all turned out to be a joke.

Honestly, I was in labor for over 30 hours and (at least until the last ten or so) answering trivia questions could have been a great way to make the time go by faster.

Endurance some Chinese game show where people competed through various tortures for a one week stay in Hawaii.
I saw it on Guinness Prime Time some years back.

how did The Biggest Loser not make this list? - a game show in which overweight people were fat- and body-shamed into losing weight through horrific physical exercise

#10 is still in production apparently, so yes, it WOULD get made today considering new seasons keep getting greenlit. MsMojo is as clueless as WatchMojo.
reply

Nothing personal, but the room you were in made you sound a bit too loud. No offense, but please don't do that agian. Some people have sensitive hearing.
reply

Queen for a Day is mean-spirited and misogynistic, while The Chamber is just sadism. Shame on both creators and executives for each show!
reply

How did you miss The Swan, Dog eat Dog, and Fear Factor! Those shows were so dangerous that people filed lawsuits against the producers!
reply

They say that Man vs Beast wouldn't get made today, but Man vs Bear very much exists and also features an eating contest.
reply

The 90s version of Three's a Crowd was actually better it works better with a boyfriend / girlfriend vs. Ex /best friend
