We still listen to these 2000s movie soundtracks years later. For this list, well be looking at films released between 2000 and 2009. Our countdown includes Charlie's Angels, School of Rock, Almost Famous, and more! What's YOUR favorite 2000s movie soundtrack?

Top 3 (In my opinion):
1. Shrek
2. The Lord of the Rings
3. 8 Mile
Shrek, hands down, has the best soundtracks in the 2000s movies. I'm disappointed that Mamma Mia was an honorable mention, if it was in the Top 10, it would easily be in my Top 3 because the soundtracks are so catchy, but apart to my rules, honorable mentions are not allowed in my Top 3.

I would include the whole Lord of the Rings trilogy on this list, just because the music is just so memorable in every sense. Like you can tell which track is what like the Fellowship theme or the theme of Rohan and Gondor. And let us not forget about Enya and Annie Lennox contribution to these films with their own original songs.

It's CRIMINAL that Scooby Doo and Scooby Doo 2 were not on this list. OutKast had Matthew Lillard in the music video featured for the first film! Sugar Ray was IN THE MOVIE. And American Idol Winner Reuben Studdard gave us a Shining Star cover that's sure to get ANYONE dancing. COME ON NOW. NOT EVEN AN HONORABLE MENTION!

BRO! NOBODY MENTIONS MARIE ANTOINETTES SOUNDTRACK EVER! SOFIA COPPOLLA CHOSE SOME REALLY GREAT TRACKS FOR THIS PIECE AND IT BREAKS MY HEART THAT ITS SO UNDERRATED AND UNHEARD!
There is not one song that is out of place on it. And I mean it.

I saw Rooney in concert in like 04/05 maybe, they opened up for Kelly Clarkson at the fair in Hamburg, NY. They signed their magnet for me and I still have it in my memory box! So crazy that they were on the princess Diaries soundtrack

Will Cruel Intentions be #1? Wow! This was such a great period for movies and music. They were fun, risky, with great music. I guess a lot of them is seen as camp at this point, but it was a FUN time to be about 20ish

I gotta say I am a little bit sad that Fairy Godmother singing I Need a Hero wasn't shown. I mean we can ALL agree that no matter what the scene will AAAAALLWAYS get you hype. watching the movie or not

Loved this list, and glad O' Brother made honorable mention- Needs a top 20 - I would nominate The Matrix and Forrest Gump( and sountrack and scores could be separate lists too)

I've got a few other 2000s movies soundtracks that are as best as this:
. Hairspray (2007)
. Enchanted (2007)
. High School Musical (2006)
. Finding Nemo (2003)

I have a soft spot for the Lost in Translation soundtrack. Perfect blend of electronica and classics like Love Will Tear Us Apart and Just Like Honey.

Am I the only person whose brain can't handle the fact that this video can't choose if it wants to cover film scores or film soundtracks.

The 2000s were my favorite time to grow up in, just like many people say about 80s and 90s were the best times for them to grow up.
reply

disappointed in the lack of mentions for Spider-Man, Daredevil, Transformers, Coyote Ugly and the Bring It On movies.

Ohhhh, I'm so happy to see Queen of the Damned soundtrack on here! It was a really good one, I literally just listened to it

Ella Enchanted was my childhood jam, and introduced me to classics such as Somebody to Love and Don't Go Breaking my Heart.

Lizzie McGuire movie should be on here.
That album screams early 2000s and its a part of my childhood

reply

O Brother, Where Art Thou is definitely not an honorable mention. It won Album of the Year at the Grammys.
