I hate to break it to the people at Ms Mojo, however the song at #1 got remade into a spanish opera cover by the group, Forte, who got their start on the show, AMERICA'S GOT TALENT, placing #6 in 2013. Forte even performed their spanish opera cover of My Heart Will Go On on AGT and it was very well received. The song at #2 could easily be remade or covered by another artist with a vocal range that is similar to Carey's (lyric coloratura) who has a background in opera along with other musical styles. For Carey really does have a lot of talent and she does work hard with her music, however I would not say that she is a one of a kind especially with her vocal range since there are other artists out there who could also pull off the whistle tones just like Carey does. Carey may be the main artist that does the whistle tones in mainstream pop, but she is not the only popular musical artist that has the ability to do it either or who has done a performance with whistle tones either.

Here's my list. Yes I know some of these songs have been covered but that doesn't mean they should have.
10) Long Time by Boston
9) Rain by The Beatles
8) Help Me Mary by Liz Phair
7) Good Vibrations by The Beach Boys
6) Mr. Jones by Couting Crows
5) Band on the Run by Paul McCartney & Wings.
4) All Apologies by Nirvana
3) Won't Get Fooled Again by The Who
2) Losing My Religion by REM
1) Jeremy by Pearl Jam
Phair was great until she became a sell-out. After that she sucked.
An honorable mention should go to Bonnie Raitt's version of Angel From Montgomery. Yes I know it's a cover of a John Prine song, but her version makes it untouchable.

Most of the songs on this list have cover versions already including Poker Face, Boulevard of Broken Dreams and Single Ladies which has a few covers. Other songs I would I think should not be/have been remade:
Bruno Mars ft Mark Ronson - Uptown Funk
Styx - Come Sail Away
Coal Miner's Daughter - Loretta Lynn
Savage Garden - Truly, Madly, Deeply
Britney Spears - Toxic
R. E. M. - Imitation Of Life, The Great Beyond, Nightswimming, Losing My Religion and It's the End of the World as We Know it (And I Feel Fine)
Nickelback - How You Remind Me
Sum 41 - Fat Lip
James Brown - I Got You (I Feel Good)

The only comment I would make regarding this list is when Led Zeppelin was honored at the Kennedy Center and Heart along with Jason Bonham on drums performed Stairway To Heaven and in my opinion just nailed it! Because growing up with a song as iconic as Stairway To Heaven. I was always told that no one covers Stairway To Heaven, especially the guitar solo! But at the end of the song Robert Plant even had tears in his eyes, it was sung so well. And damn Ann and Nancy Wilson sure did give a performance that absolutely blew me away!

Oh, I forgot- songs to never remake:
-November Rain (my _absolute_ fave song ever);
-Head Over Heels by Tears for Fears;
-both Suicide Blonde & Never Tear Us Aparteven though they both have been covered, rather poorly
-Ordinary World (again, poorly covered)
-Black Hole Sunthe cover would have been better with a different singer
On the flip side- Careless Whisper by Seether was a pleasant surprise. The original is still better, minus the cheesy 80s saxophone.

One that really deserves mention is Rhapsody by Siouxsie and the Banshees. There are things Siouxsie Sioux does with her voice in that song that I've never heard from anyone else. It truly becomes an instrument in itself. In the entire song, the use of crescendo and decrescendo is unmatched anywhere outside of classical music.

I think that no one should cover the songs, For Your Eyes Only, Skyfall, and Send in the Clowns. As much as i love Barbra Streisand, no one holds a candle to Judy Collins when it comes to this song. The same holds for the other 2 songs. While I have heard covers by very good artists, the just don't cut it.

Maybe a controversial opinion here but I think a lot of them could, but the remake would have to be totally different to be respected. I think music is humanity and tend to think that there is no bad music. Still have personal likes and dislikes and will just say I don't care for something I don't like.

Poker Face was brilliantly covered on Glee by Lea Michele and the incredible Idina Menzel, years before she became even more iconic as Elsa. The musical directors of the show took inspiration from Gaga herself stripping it back on the piano which she does with most of her upbeat bops.

November Rain - Guns -N Roses
Id Do Anything For Love (But I Wont Do That) - Meat Loaf
Total Eclipse of the Heart - Bonnie Tyler
One - Metallica
Freebird - Lynard Skynard
(And yes, I do know a couple were remade. They were bad ideas and should not have been done)

November Rain.
Nobody can sing this like Axl Rose.
Nobody.
Also my fella (who is far more musically smart than I am and I admit it) has just told me that there have been remakes done of both Stairway to Heaven and My Heart Will Go On so there's that.

There are a lot of songs that should never ever be covered. But we all know someone will come along and ruin it. Perfect example John Lennon's Imagine covered by A Perfect Circle. BTW Stairway to Heaven has been covered over 100 times most notably by the band Heart.

It wasn't exactly a cover, but Ann Wilson's epic version of Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy Center Honors was truly something special. Jason Bonham played drums and did his father proud. Just watching Robert Plant's face during the performance was magical.

1: 37 Dragula has actually been remade already. Lissie made her version of the song a few years ago for the Haunt movie, and its haunting and disturbing in a beautiful way, relying more in a piano and percussions. Though the original stills as epic as ever.

It's Celine Dion, who herself did a cover of a song that should have never been remade. The Power of love in the original version by Jennifer Rush is so full of warmth and real tenderness that it cuts to the bone when you here the cold-as-ice-vocals of CD.

There was Hurt by NIN. And then the Johnny Cash came along.
There was The Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel. and then Disturbed's lead singer came along.
It's really hard to improve on this kind of songs, but not exactly imposible.

Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton is one I think shouldn't be covered. Not saying someone couldn't do a good job with it, but when a song is so directly tied to a personal tragedy like this one was, I think it should be left alone.

Actually I agree, My Immortal it's not a really hard song to sign in terms of range or somenthing like that, but the interpretation it's quite hard. Nobody can deliver the feelings in this song like Amy Lee does

Poker Face was a good choice for this list. A better choice? Bad Romance.
I'd also have included the Bangles' Walk Like an Egyptian. Possibly the most complex and varied orchestrations of any pop tune.

Daughtry has done a cover of Poker Face for SiriusXM which was stripped down and Dolly Parton has done Stairway to Heaven. Dolly's Stairway to Heaven is just as amazing but in a Bluegrass form.

I dont think any Evanescence song would sound right being remade. IMO no one can convey emotions through their music the way Amy Lee can. That hauntingly beautiful voice can never be beaten.

Not a cover per se, Boulevard of Broken Dreams was mashed up with Wonderwall. This was due to the impeccable similarities in the medley. Same chord progression. Noel Gallagher complained

1 song that should never be remade is tears in heaven. No one else could bring the raw emotions that Eric Clapton brought with this song about the passing of his kid so young.

First off no Prince song should ever be remade. Secondly Single Ladies is an ongoing chorus with no verses. Is that even really a song? The video is what carried it

I would add Venom by Eminem on my list since Chester Bennington isn't with us in person. If he was still with us he could've done an awesome cover of the song

Thought we said no songs that have been notably covered. Stairway has been covered to death, Heart did an amazing cover. Hell, even Neil Sedaka has covered it.

These are all karaoke songs. Very entertaining to see drunk people try to sing these tunes. Should've had Adele in this list too.
