On this week's Overboard, we're playing HEAT: PEDAL TO THE METAL, a board game about 1960s-style Grand Prix racing. Alongside Vox's Byrd Pinkerton, a huge Formula 1 fan herself, we're going head to head on racetracks in Italy and Great Britain, hitting apexes and blasting down the straights toward victory. For all the newly minted F1 fans out there, Heat is a great way to bring your car passion to the table

Me, hearing Caldwell (edit: Clayton, sorry I've been watching Drawfee recently) explain the game (clearly and concisely as always): -Man, y'know, I really prefer when Polygon plays like hidden identity or roleplaying games or whatnot, but this could be fun! -
Pat, thirty seconds after the game explanation: Hold my beer.

Oh heck yeah, another Polygon Let's Play! These are always some of my favorite vids, love watching yall play new and interesting games, and has gotten me interested in several video games! Delightful video, delightful people, and this game seemed a little tough to pick up at first, but really cool!

You tease! I have been trying to get a copy of this game for ages and it's nowhere to be found. No one can keep it in stock. Now it's going to get the Overboard bump?
I don't blame you though, I blame Days of Wonder -

On my first playthrough I made the same mistake as Pat, thinking the heat penalty was the number of spaces you went over the line by rather than the total number of spaces you moved that turn.

Wow! a rare Williams fan! (at least for this season lol)
I loved all the f1 jokes, i never thought about a Formula 1 tabletop game but this is so cool! all it's missing is the crashing xD

Straight onto the Board Game Geek wishlist. This looks awesome. I've been a fan of Formula D for many years, but this looks like a simpler, faster-moving, and easier to teach version of that.

Couldn't Simone have used slipstream to get in first place after crossing the finish line, or is there no so slipstream once you cross it because Christina technically crossed first?

Kept trying to check my playback settings, but I think the intro is just Clayton talking very fast. I appreciate that it is thematic, but i found it much harder to follow

Did you choose players for this game/video based on who just had the longest, lankiest possible arms? Is her name Byrd because of her WINGSPAN? Lmaooo

What a fun game! Thanks for playing for us. I loved to see Pat -Gamer-by-trade- Gill absolutely beef it on understanding the rules. What a big mood.

I know the designers IRL, and they're both super nice. Been play testing some of the stuff that they're working on, and they're great designers.

The excitement of this game might not translate super well to video, but glad to see y'all giving some attention to a great little racing game.

Reinventing -when you come in space does it push you backwards? - with -in the 60s racers peed backwards to add thrust-

This game seems so fun, I'd honestly love to just see another overboard episode where you just play more of this

Pat liking this so much makes me want it since we love all the same things and would definitely be best friends hmu Pat.

the opening narration was happening so fast I stopped to see if I accidentally had playspeed on 1. 5 or something

Is it just me or is the audio panning a little off on this video? my right ear sounds louder than my left

This looks like a really cool and well-built game design that would be a nightmare to implement for players.

Just played this yesterday. Absolutely delightful to see Overboard gang burning their engines to crisp!
