Terrified Shelter Dog Is A Different Pup In Her Foster Home Foster Diaries Clearly, she has a great deal of German Shepherd in her. People who havent lived with a GSD (Ive had many, see this large, intimidating police dog and dont realize how unbelievably sensitive they are! There are accounts of GSDs literally starving themselves to death when their longtime owners either died, or abandoned them. They are the most wonderful dogs there are.

Dogs know a loving human when they meet them, they just develop trust in accordance with how they have been previously treated. You are an angel, and if I could own a thousand acres, I would rescue a thousand dogs. For now I just have my three babies who enjoy the pampered life they deserve. Thanks for doing what you do!

We have 19 adopted dogs, each and EVERY one is beautiful - expat Australian and Thai partners for 18 years, our children are SUPER SPECIAL to us.
WELL done for your BEAUTIFUL addition to your family, doggies bring LOVE, JOY and Happiness to every home.
Great video, thank you!

When I got my dog I would wait 6 plus hours for him to come out from under the bed just to get him within 5 feet of me. It took months for him to trust me, I’ve had him for 4 years and he still has episodes but has comes miles from where he was

Clearly the people who had her before dumping her were cruel abusers. Her terror wasn’t about the shelter, it was what she had come to expect from people. Thank you for bringing her to a home where she could find safety and love.

Volunteer from the local animal shelter here. Whenever working with anxious dogs, there is one method that works in 99%, and that's a good dose of happy, socialised dogs, showing the fearful one that not all humans are bad.

People who get dogs then after a year or 10 years put them out. I don't care what your reason is, it's BS. Don't ever get another pet, you don't deserve them. and I hope Karma burns you big time A hole.
reply

Oh no, that will not do. I think it's obvious to that she was either verbally, or physically abused. That look in her eyes, brought tears to my eyes. I can't understand why anyone abuses animals

I rescued an 18 mo old shepherd lab mix. My vet told me he had been abused. Took about 30 days for him to train me. Had that wonderful guy for 18 years. Amazing how resilient dogs are.

It breaks my heart to see this happen to animals. I love the stories of their rehabilitation and love of a new home. But these are the lucky ones. A lot of other aren't so lucky.
reply

I love that she was a foster fail- the intense love in her eyes would be impossible to give up. So glad all 5 of you met up and made a family. You can see the love.
reply

SO glad you adopted her! She didn’t have to get used to a whole other situation with a different adopter! THANK YOU for adding her to your family!

Our 6 furbabies sleep with us in the bed at night. 3 dogs 3 cats. I can't imagine ever putting our fur babies in such position that they'd be so scared.
reply

It makes you wonder what she was endured to be so scared n cower like that I'm so happy yins adopted piper n she didn't have to leave yins
reply

It breaks my heart to see dogs as emotionally damaged as Piper and all because of mistreatment from those who should be taking care of them. Love

So, If a person is stressed get them a dog.
If a cheetah is stressed get them a dog
If your dog is stressed get a dog for your dog.

It's amazing how being with other dogs helps a dog snap out of their fear.
I've seen it on The Asher House rescue videos as well.

how heartbreaking sad to see how afraid this dog is at start. amd how overwhelming when she enjoys her freedom at last. wow
reply

So sad, glad it turned out to be a good story. Going to go out on a limb and say that Piper had seen some before you took her in

How much would you trust someone who put a choke collar on you Choke collars should be banned. Shame on you

Just think how many poor animals are put down because they're terrified, not because they're actually aggressive
reply

aw poor Piper i feel so so so bad for her i hope she feels better around you guys soon ok
reply

Everyone please acknowledge that masks did not work at all and you should not hold that belief.
reply

This shows that dogs are really pack animals. They need a dog friend in addition to a human.
reply

You have made her life heavenly! She has belief in all you do and are! Pure love!
reply

My question is this
She allowed the gentleman to pick her up
is that a good sign
