I’m in puddles. This is so incredibly beautiful. I adopted an older dog myself and all I can say is that they still have so much joy to give and receive. So there is really no reason to not take them into your family.
Dogs are the best thing on this planet, no matter what age they are. I love my fur babies to bits, and it is so heartwarming to watch a sad dog getting happy again.

Bless you Jennifer, going & sitting with her in the shelter for months I'm sure changed Pirates life for the good. Adopting her & giving her a forever home, where she feels loved and protected, you & your husband are such kind, loving people. I'm not sure Pirate is still alive but if she did pass on, I'm sure she was happy she had you til the end.

It’s all about making one happy and comfortable regardless the age, I too had a few senior dogs although mine did not come from shelters they came from friends who suddenly passed away, it’s about love, care and comfort for the rest of their days. So happy you made that dog yours, so thank you for makings Mr P life the best ever

We rescued a dog that spent 2 years in a puppy mill, and then 5 years in a shelter before he joined our family. He was with us over 9 years, and though always afraid of people, grew into part of the household. Full recovery to normality is very hard, and very rare. So enjoy these success stories.

I think dogs live in the moment. Just like we should most of the time, but we don't. We're always living in the past or worrying about tomorrow, but I think dogs truly do live in the here and now. That's why when they're happy to see you, they're truly happy.

Thank you for rescuing Pirate and making her golden years special. Never overlook older animals when looking to adopt. They offer so much love and joy. I will always look at the older ones when I adopt. they have alot of love to give.

Terrible this poor pup spent his life in a shelter. What does that say about the shelters marketing skills. Hire more creative people, rotate the dogs, take them out to meet people. Glad she was finally adopted.

You people are amazing, what a selfless and incredible thing to do. YOU truly did it for HER moreso than yourselves and with more people like you it would make this world a better place.

Oh my goodness, weeping while I watch. Hope the universe brings you guys many blessings for the beautiful thing you did - Pirate was truly transformed by love and happiness.

The people at the shelter didn't do a great job of helping her find a home. It's great what they do but you're just housing her in a cage for years. That's not the job.

Bless you both for giving Pirate a loving home. Old dogs are the best. If I won the lottery, I would re-home every older dog I could, they have so much to give.
