I even had a praying Mantis adopt me when I was in the first grade, living in the Napa Valley at the time, who sat on the foot of my bed at bedtime and still would be there in the morning. Then Id let him (or her) outside and the Mantis would come back in the evening.
Life is attracted to life, unless the life is threatening in some way. But we adust and adapt to that, which is why birds of a feather, especially mammal lovers, flock together or SUVs hang out with those who camp, lol.

I kept trying to comment on a comment left by someone who had befriended a squirrel, and their cat was leash trained and a friendship developed between squirrel and kitty also! Very sweet! But I kept somehow losing my message before I could send it! Sadly their apartment was sold by some investment company, and now it sits boarded up, and one can't help but resent human indifference and greed. I just wanted to give a kudos to the person for their love of both the squirrel AND of the cat (I so respect people taking the time and effort to accustom their kitty to a leash so they can enjoy the outdoors and fresh air safely and responsibly! Bless you!

They aren't visiting. Your feeding them. No different than what hunters do to lure their prey or farmers do on their farms. But then again you take their feeding land to build your house it's the least you can do. Now when the times of trouble really get bad, you can at least eat a few days longer than some. That is of course until someone in the neighborhood hears those turkeys going off.

I loved this video! What a kind heart you have. I am trying to learn a bout groundhogs because one has made itself very comfortable in my yard. I'm not sure I could ever be as hospitable as you, but you are inspiring! What would the world look like if instead of harming so many animals, humans behaved more like you

i want to be able to set up a restaurant/watering hole/ sanctuary as well! but i live in the city. bummer. this is so heart warming. animals barley have room left to live on this planet. if we are not eating them or experimenting on them or using them in other horrible ways, we take away their habitats.

A lonely suburban human gives food to an animal, and they think that it's coming around because it likes them and not only there for the food! The doors of perception are closed tightly with this crowd. She would lock her doors for a homeless person standing next to a stoplight.

I would absolutely love to have your backyard, i use to get alot of chipmunks and cardinals and blue jays, sometimes deer at night but god i miss that, your yard looks like i can just stare outside all day and watch these beautiful animals wonder around

Beautiful animals but is there an issue with feeding them 'Don't feed the animals' One issue could be feeding them things they shouldn't be eating from a wild animal health perspective. Just noticing no one raising this kind of question.

We had a squirrel living in out trees we called Fat Fred. Had a doggie door and sometimes we'd find him passed out on the couch. It was hilarious. He still lived in the trees and worked all summer to bury food for winter.

Thank you for sharing this. It was sweet and heartwarming to watch them Cuttie bond with you and then to bring his family now. Maybe Dustin will keep a tradition going with his family when he gets one.

There is a one downside to this, those animals learn to depend on the food she is providing and if something happens and she can't feed them anymore those animals could be in trouble.

Any wild animal you feed will continue to come around how could that be surprising This is not living a natural life. This is you endangering them and making them dependent.

I have a ground hog that visits us every day, she has a little one and together they come to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. They are quite friendly.
