Vet Eats In Rescue Dog's Cage To Make Her Feel Safe Faith = Restored In the first attempt, I think the bowl is too far and she thinks the food is the humans and she will be punished for eating it. Thats why after being hand fed she understands it is for her. Using the same bowl actually could confuse her further as it definitely looks like both bowls are for the same person. Even after being fed, I think shes thinking this is not my food its the humans food and he is sharing part of it with me. I think using different containers and putting a good distance between any human and the bowl, and slowly pushing the bowl towards her (without any sudden moves) could portray slightly more trust. This is just intuition, Im no expert, but she looks terrified of eating in the close presence of the human. Dogs are very smart though, she finally understood the message the vet wanted to convey.

I love he eats out of a stainless bowl too. So damn cute, and she ate her way right into his office. I know most Vets are like this but, he is just so awesome for the time, love and patience he showed this dog. I am sure it is because of him and his staff she grew into the confident dog she is.

This Veterinarian is absolutely amazing. I can tell he is passionate about his career and his compassionate love for animals. A book ought to be written about him. He's a one of a kind Vet since All Creatures Great and Small.

She needs a soft thermal shirt so it hug's Her, to keep Her feeling safe, the feeling of the barrier between her, her coat & the outside help's her feel safer & more comfortable. My ALICE MARIE Loved her hugging sweaters

Our rescue dog Gram was the same way took me a couple weeks to get him comfortable eating what we give him. He still has the tendency to try and scavenge when outside. I think he was starved in the past.

He's no man but rather a modern day hero. I had a feeling he was going to keep this beautiful little dog. A bond for life was made as soon as he hand fed her. Thanks for showing this beautiful story

That's Dr. Tom Geiselhardt at HomeStead Animal Hospital in Englewood Colorado. I have been taking for 4 legged family members to him for the past 16 years. He is a very caring and compassionate person.

I have a rescued dog. When she started playing joyfully like that I knew we had turned a corner. She still does that with other dogs, people, and when she gets to ho in the ocean!

I wish they would give adult people this level of care to recover. In prison, in rehab, in mental health setting.

That's so nice someone in jail is allowed to have there dog there. Probably helps him feel safe. Jail is so scary.

Dogs show us two things: how kind some people are and what wastes of space others are.
