I'm glad it got out but really, that was not a very safe way of doing it. Use a piece of hard plastic from an ice cream container or similar thin plastic. Wrap it around the kitten push it up to slide the kitten out easier. I watched them do that at WAF a few times now. Much easier, and safer.

Once I got to within 1/2 of the kitty, I would have gone with a small chisel to pry away small pieces, rather than swinging that machete. Barring no chisel. begin prying MUCH sooner!
A for results
D for execution (because that may have been the result, with an errant swing)

Could have been better in this similar situation to use a small hammer with the cutter. place the cutter on the log and strike with the small hammer slowly to have better control of force. . to reduce an unwanted or unintended accident. glad the kitten was safely released anyway

next time, take a chisel, or flat head screw driver, with a hammer, & hit the end that the kitten is on. woods grows with a grain traveling vertically, it splits really easy on that grain

Lol the lady called the kitten dumb, like c'mon, he must be super horrified, his head stuck in a log and a clever right at his throat, one wrong move and he could've died

Honestly that was dangerous way to save her
They should’ve chiseled her out instead of hacking her out
One mistake and the cats head is cracked open

Jeez - that was so hard to watch. That poor little baby-cat.
Hope they took her home and cuddled her a bit, and fed her.

Why couldn't you put something slippery around inside the log like vegetable oil or soap with a blunt butter knife!

Use a chain saw, it would much faster, probably in a foreign country, where they only have primitive tools.

Sometimes, humans are good to animals. This couple belongs to the good guys. Thank you for helping the kitten.

Sorry but this one looks staged so they could film it. Kittens don’t just get their heads stuck in logs.

They’re not being very careful. That guy is being a bit over enthusiastic with the machete
