One man swam across for the dog then, tired from the swim, attempted to climb a ladder with the dog. One man videoed the whole event and another five men watched. It took far too long for one of the other men to offer help his team mate and bring a rope to lift the dog onto the ship. I'm happy they managed to rescue an injured little dog and will be looking after it.
I've seen many great animal rescue videos, I just wish people would go and rescue the trapped or injured animal, instead of switching on their phone first and trying to get the right camera angle. Too many rescue videos show the person is holding onto their camera, then struggling with their other hand to move or lift the animal! Whilst I love to know that animals have been rescued and have either found a good home or been returned to their owners, please people, think animal first, video second.

What a clusterf%&k of a rescue. A boat as big as that didn't have any type of life boats, inflatable or otherwise, that the rescuer could go over to the dog an retrieve him And ok, sure, throw a rope ladder over the side. Were the rest of the nimrods on board doing rock, paper scissors to decide who would go down to help the rescuer in the water Why did it take so long to decide that I believe, if I myself were being rescued, I would have chosen drowning at that point.

That's a seriously brave man right there! I'd be sorceress to go swimming in water like that! I don't like swimming in water. I can't see what's there. I once went wake boarding in Lake Oroville, which is dark water. When I lost the wake board, I didn't let go of the rope. They were screaming at me to let go, I just shook my head and made them pull me in. I even kept my toes sticking up behind me, I wouldn't even put my feet down below me.

I've always loved this site for the animals. I wish they would stop with the videos of ppl wanting their 15 minutes of fame with focus on them rather than the animals they're rescuing. Also, this new thing with the producers/employees in videos. it's great y'all work for and bring to light great rescues, but I just care about the animals. So over everybody's need to be famous, let's keep the focus on all the amazing animals.

The dog is smart the way he balances himself on the guy's arm as he plans to ascend the ladder. Still, it would be a very tricky climb carrying a moving animal of that weight with just one arm. He seems like a sweetheart - I hope the crew decides to keep him. You can always use a loyal dog on a boat!

Dont get me wrong it was a spectacular act of selflessness from that swimmer. Maybe the plastic drum that the raft was tied to. Put the dog inside and bring it back up by the same way it was brought down. Just a suggestion. Still thank u for that rescue. nice job

Bravo! What an awesome rescue! Would love to see a follow up to this story. I hope that fur baby was adopted by a wonderful family. Kudos to these wonderful men, who stepped up and made sure this puppy was safe.

not sure if that is brazil but the few voices that can be heard in the video they are talking in Spanish so better you confirm your tag location of the rescue
Note: Official language in Brazil is Portuguese

It's amazing how anxious you can get just watching a video like this, especially when you know it must have a happy ending! Thank you to the kind rescuers. I hope the dog found a good home.

Couldn't even focus on the dog. What are all those metal containers behind the fence Looks like an environmental nightmare. What country does that. Glad I don't live there. It's disgusting

Thank you for saving this beautiful dog. The sailor who swam out and the personnel who worked so hard to get him on board are true heroes. There are still good people in this world.

Thank goodness for that heroic crew! I’m so glad they saved that poor dog, but I feel so stressed out after watching that. I gotta go find some chocolate and eat my feelings now

He was definitely the CATCH of the day! Most folks come back to shore telling fish stories. These guys came home with a dog story. And it was even true.

None of the people involved were obliged to help this poor animal, but they did. Thank you and blessings to all of them for health and happiness.

The sailor who swam out to rescue him must have been exhausted. And cold. Well done to him for hanging in there until reinforcements arrived.
