I was thinking of posting a video of my complete mess up but. Then I thought about it & was like nope not gonna! I have bleach blonde hair & went to do my roots brown black. Well some how I ended up with it on my ends & I just went with it & dyed my ends brown black too! Well it was a disaster & luckily I hadn't washed it yet so I was able to get the brown black out easily! But the worst part & I should of thought about it first but nope! I put silver blonde over the re-bleached mids & ends & ended up with greenish grey hair! Yea ummm my hair was not completely blonde & had I still had some yellow & orange in my mids & ends. Since I didn't let it process long enough due to the fact I had bleach underneath the brown black & was afraid of my hair sizzling off! This was my first EVER HAIR FAIL at home!

So back in November of 23, I slipped and fell in my house and suffered a compound fracture to my right leg. I've been rehabilitating at my boyfriend's house this whole time. Right before the break I tried going back to a normal blonde from my usually wild colored hair. I hated it but had to wait to fix it. Now it's the beginning of March and I go home this next weekend and the first thing I'm gonna do is color my hair purple and turquoise. Yes I went to Sally's and of course I bought Xmondo hair color. It's funny because most of the older ladies at Sally's don't know about your work. So I end up educating them on all of your stuff and I think it helps with sales. So, lol, you're welcome!

I only halfway agree on the cost issue you mentioned. While it's true, going to Sally's, you can easily drop a good 100$ to 300$ in there getting all the supplies needed to initially bleach, tone, and/or color your hair at home. I've done it myself before. However something to consider is that when I did drop that 300$ at Sally's at least of the supplies are reusable (brushes, dishes, measuring, caps, etc) while the rest of the supplies lasted me well over a year in terms of touch ups, maintenance, or even color changes and redyes later. So in terms of initial cost, you're correct, but in terms of long term cost, you are incorrect.

Hmmmm I have concerns about that first one.
The first woman doesn’t say how she disposes of the bleach water, out in the middle of nowhere. Bleach is extremely corrosive and has to be severely diluted to prevent harm (or treated by a waste water treatment facility. It’s literally used to kill various unwanted organisms in ponds (different doses kill different sized organisms. If she just dumped her bleach rinse water into a ditch, it’ll kill everything in that ditch. If she poured it out onto a space with plants, those plants are dead. Hopefully she did her research and found a way to safely dispose of it.

Brad, you've taught me to NEVER touch my own hair - haircut or colouring, thank you so much! I used to box dye my hair black box dye (I am SO SORRY. My hair is naturally red and it took yeaaaaaaars to get my hair back to its natural and I lost a lot of length and such because I also used to straighten it a lot. Would rather pay $280 for colour and cut at my hairdresser back home in New Zealand than damage my hair again. Sadly, moved to the UK and am unable to get my hair done. Have trust issues with hairdressers so am growing out the blonde and going natural for a while x

I did my own hair for years and got really good at it- but it only takes once to completely mess up your hair. I was over confident with my application after years of no breakage, was in a rush getting ready for a wedding and over lapped causing lots of breakage on my long hair. I had to get it cut to my ears, I was devastated and am still growing it back. As confident as I got doing my own hair, I’ll NEVER do it again lol. It’s was tooooo easy to overlook something simple and cause such major damage- I’m still kicking myself in the butt

I used to bleach my hair all the time in middle/high school. I had platinum blonde with brunette like a majority of us did at the time. I switched back and forth from brunette to plplatinum for a while then one time when i was a little older, I bleached it myself and it was a major fail. And I never did it again lol now I just have brunette with highlights and my hair is long and healthy the last few years for the first time and I'd never at home bleach it again lol

That asian chic my eyes locked on her birthmark, and I am assuming it is one. OH do be careful with bleach around birthmarks like that. they are very sensitive an if you accidently get bleach it itching will best outcome. I have a similar brithmark and was told not to dye my hair, I didn't listen, I ended up with something like a chemical burn because I didn't listen. THought it was far enough away to never get touched by dye. Keep getting professionally done.

A lot of the time whenever someone went to the salons they’d pay a pretty penny but they’d get a shitty hairjob and the stylist would care to fix it. So they decide to do it themselves. I do work at Sally’s so I tell them it’s a lil safer bet bc you’re doing it yourself and if you mess it it’s on your doing and you’ll be able to fix it if you wanted to. Plus seeing them all happy and excited trying something new is a beautiful sight

I bleach my roots at home after my hairdresser moved & the one I started to go to. wasn't great (for me & my hair. The last time I went (the final straw) cost me 400 dollars and I had missed/dark spots in the very front, I figured I could do it better (or at least the same) myself for way cheaper, like under 100 dollars. Even if I mess up or miss a spot it's fine because, well, it's me, I'm not a professional and I'm not paying 400 dollars.

I'm glad someone finally said it. But sometimes. the DIY version in ingredients, time and repair is DEFINITELY more than a visit to the salon. if your local salon is trying to charge you more than $300 for a full head of bleach. you might want to see if there is a better price for the same service in your area. (Unless, you know, you're trying to bleach and then dye your hair 15 colors, obviously that's going to be pushing $500)

I just spent over $200 for a professional to do a very unprofessional job. I’m a single mom, I work full time, and I don’t have the time. I couldn’t say anything though cause I’m too nice, just paid and left. Now I have no idea what to do. The cut is horrible but the color is worse and I’m tempted to do something at home. Not many professionals in my area can handle my hair unfortunately.

Babes, besties bleaching costs a lot of money for a legitimate reason it’s a chemical and it takes a lot of time and technique and knowledge but sure waste days of your time and probably the same amount for mediocre hair when you could’ve saved the time, spent the same and have beautiful hair
You deserve beautiful hair

The first girl would be a perfect dark ginger, like a real orange brown red ginger. Not dark dark but a bright dark ginger. Y'all feel I didn't like the strawberry effect he gave her I was feeling more towards the orange 100% she looked so radiant. The grey brought her features back down, idk made her hair look like a wig.

This is the first time I've seen someone in a hair fail where I just want to know more about the person before anything about the hair process started. Just from her nonchalantly saying without running water, it's obvious she's been doing the van living for some time and I want to know so much about that.
reply

Every time I see these videos, I come to the conclusion that my hairdresser deserves every cent I pay I have blond highlights. I admire their confidence but I have no illusions about my bleaching skills; there would be no hair on my hair if I tried it at home

This is why I use ion creme oil lightener and 20 volume developer. it's not a bleach. it times out after a while. Never have to worry about over bleaching. And no ramen effect. She really needs that product. with no running water you REALLY don't want a true bleach.
reply

I spend $80 when I need everything, foils, lightening powder, developer, gloves, toner and toner developer. but otherwise its just the toner I need and thats less than $10. When I went to the salon it cost me $500 and I have fine thin hair, NEVER AGAIN!
reply

You always say it's better to go to a hairstylist to bleach hair, but I've been bleaching my hair by myself for most of my life, and I saved sooo much money. I just need 1 box lightener every 2 months that costs 8, 45. And it turns out great every time.
reply

I think some people really underestimate how much dimension they’re missing with these at-home all over bleach applications. It’s lacking highlights, lowlights, and mid tones. Instead it becomes a block of color that looks fairly damaged
