To all the commenters who are concerned for Claires mental health: I think that her being miserable is part of the joke and it makes it more relatable because she starts out eager (except for this vid but thats also part of the joke, then struggles and seems really annoyed, but finally she succeeds and is really proud which really shows the creative process and how it isnt easy to do something like this. It takes time and it takes failure, and normal people arent just unfazed by that failure; they get upset. But Claire keeps trying even after the failures which makes her an inspiration.

You can see the employers and people above her treat her horribly too. Seeing her interact with them has always bothered me. It's just off. No. Not good enough. You HAVE to make more than one. You're not done. Seriously. Love Claire and I'm worried. She seems more bummed out and stressed than usual. She was always frustrated, but you could tell she was still enjoying what she did. It's been pretty sad lately.

this episode wasn't fun to watch, she didn't want to do pop rocks, she didn't feel heard, everyone in the kitchen was trying their best to end this episode to spare her the headache of this project. don't treat her like this, she deserves to be heard and shouldn't be forced to make things she strongly took a stand on.

If you put some ground up or small pieces of dry ice into the mixture and stirred, would that get some of the CO2 trapped in the sugar crystals? Also, you could pair up with a local college and do this in a lab? I'm sure they would have all the safety gear and could build a pressurized apparatus. Don't give up on this

I was thinking from the beginning of the video that you just need dry ice, and when you finally mentioned it you used it to cool the candy You should have mixed the dry ice in the candy, that way it will freeze it and trap itself inside the sugar and make higher pressure co2 pockets

Dont put dry ice into a freezer, it will ruin your freezer, due to dry ice being so much colder then a freezer it will turn into a gas quickly and also can shutdown your freezer AND if you put it into a airtight container whilst in the freezer, it will explode

You know what I would have done? Cook the same exact mixture and while still hot pour it in a container in which you could increase the pressure, just a little bit in order to make the bubbles smaller but with the same amount of gas in it

Um, if the objective was to trap CO2 bubbles in the hard candy, why not pulverize the dry ice and mix it into the candy? The cold will make the candy set with the dry ice pockets trapped in it, unable to expand.
