Imagine if there were one of these everywhere. it annoys me that fast food franchises target low income areas- and although yes it does provide affordable food- it does more to endear the cycle of heart disease, and poor nutrition and everything that comes from poor nutrition, including poor work/school performance from poor nutrition, that is endemic in lower income areas. I'm not blaming it all on food- but food has its part. low income people dont want to eat crap- and work in crappy jobs. but its all thats around sometimes for miles. my friend lives next to a mcdonalds where across the road is another mcdonalds. u dont get that in beverly hills. what it takes- and makes me happy - is business owners and entrepreneurs willing to take a smart risk- and give these areas a good quality service- and in turn- the area becomes rehabilitated in a way - without being necessarily gentrified. i think this is so great. u can see the pride the people there have in having a store like that there.

Healthier used here was just that the quality wasn't shit basically, please don't tell this isn't healthier you can definitely make healthy tasty food but I think the price might be more expensive. Vegetarians or vegans can argue this saying vegan is cheap but there is a certain amount of flavor you can get from meat or animal products to produce cheap delicious healthy food. Either way I think local is awesome for community just giving high quality food with low cost for the community something McDonald or any other food chain won't do.

I'm not very social. One of the reasons I watch this show is to learn how to be social and talk to people casually, which Lucas does better than anyone I've ever seen. He said I appreciate you talking to me, this is something that I could never have said. Although I would feel grateful for the conversation it would feel awkward to say such a thing. I guess I need to be more honest with people without caring for the supposed social implications from society I put on myself

I ate here and it was over priced crap. Sure it's healthy, not the foldies they were greasy, but it cannot compete in an for peoples dollar if it wont get them much and a typical fast food place will. Also, you wont get people in the door if your food is not even good, based on my experience eating there. I have enjoyed eating at other places in LA that Lucas has gone to but this place gets a total 0 in my book.

the first time i saw Lucas was when he hosted the fried chicken Oprah's like, i didn't like seeing him there, because he was like reluctant on doing the show. but then i watched more episodes of his, i think he's awesome anyway, kind of wondering where does he originaly come from? i thought he is Chinese or Japanese. sorry if i sounded rude

I like Lucas the best on your shows but spamming So Cal/LA way too much. I know there is a ton of food there but there is still San Francisco and Seattle that can be done on the west coast. New Orleans and other parts in the states? LA getting too much love. None the less, best episode between all the LA episodes.

Have always watched Dining on a Dime quietly and everyone is always saying how awesome Lucas is. Polyglot, articulate, friendly, etc etc. Of course that's great. But on this episode. dang, Lucas wore a Modest Mouse sweater. Only now that I think yeah you're really awesome, Lucas. Much love from Indonesia.

Kudos to chefs Choi and Patterson for making this restaurant concept a reality in food desert areas, but the food offerings don't seem all that healthy to me. Other than the small bowl of greens, the menu seems lacking in fruits and veggies. unless Mr. Lucas didn't order these choices.

Thanks for another great video, Lucas! I'm such a big fan of Locol; they're doing really good work in South Central LA. The messy greens is my favorite dish there; it's so pleasantly vinegary. You missed out on their soft serve ice cream and iced coffee though. Next time!

Love how anything south of Wilshire is south central to this guy. South Central and Watts are not interchangeable names. They are separate and unique identities. And unfortunately, this is the kind of guy who will ultimately will gentrify the neighborhood and displace POC.
