Well I grew up down an old dirt road in a town you wouldn't knowMy pops picked the place up for 1500 bucks back in 1964My grandfather was a drinker back in the day he put 'em downBut a war is known to change a man and the whiskey is known to change a manBut, that's not meI rarely drink from the bottle but I smoke a little weedI still live in the sticks where you wouldn't goIn a town of 1200 off an old dirt roadAnd a country boy is all I'll ever beNow it's been 12 years since I sold my soul to the devil in L. A. He said sign your name here on the dotted line and your songs they all will playHe set up shop on sunset, he put me up at the marqueeHe said you wanna sell a million records boy you better listen to meHe said change your style, whiten your smile, you could lose a couple of poundsAnd if you want to live this life, you better lose that wife, do you need your friends around? I said, no that's not meCause the biggest things in life are your friends and familyAnd I like my jeans and my old t-shirtsAnd a couple extra pounds never really hurtCause a country boy is all I'll ever beCause Hank taught me just how to stay aliveYou'll never catch me out the house without my 9 or 45I got a big orange tractor and a diesel truckAnd my idea of heaven is chasing whitetail bucksAnd as a country boy you know I can surviveNow two flags fly above my land that really sum up how I feelOne is the colors that fly high and proudThe red, the white, the blueThe other ones got a rattlesnake with a simple statement madeDon't tread on me is what it says and I'll take that to my graveBecause, this is meI'm proud to be American and strong in my beliefsAnd I've said it before but I'll say it againCause I've never needed government to hold my handAnd I've said it before but I'll say it againCause my family has always fought and died to save this landAnd a country boy is all I'll ever beI love my country, I love my guns, I love my familyI love the way it is now, and anybody that tries to change itHas to come through me, that should be all our attitudes'cause this is America and a country boy is good enough for me son.

For people who are confused, this short film is about ONE son, interviewed at different times. There are clips of him before his father passed and the boy was just 14, and again after his father passed, when he's all grown up and taken over his father's business.

This is a beautiful piece and, I believe, it highlights some of the things I truly love about being southern and more specifically being from Tennessee. God bless Tennessee, the Vols, my grown baby girls and my daddy (and of course God bless you too)

This place has me turned around. Scott's BBQ is the legend Rodney Scott of SC. Parker's BBQ is Parker's in Greenville, NC. Lexington is the so-called BBQ capital of the world Lexington, NC. Anyway, such a wonderful story. Excellent video.

This is so heartwarming and really well done! :) I especially loved that slo-mo shot of the coals being poured inside the grills (I guess you could call them grills? :O. Fab. :)

I lost my dad too and now I am running his school and I can totally understand the feeling. May he rest in peace. it's us who carry his name forward and stick to his teaching: )

I envy this man for having his life all together, meaning he knew what he wanted to do since a young boy, with heart and passion. Great story

This is by far the greatest BBQ/ father &son videos Ive had the pleasure of watching. Mr. Parker raised a great son, and Zack you have honored your dad.
