ALL Korean Ramen restaurants in South Korea use INSTANT NOODLES at restaurants. There is NO restaurant in JAPAN and CHINA historically serves INSTANT NOODLES at restaurants. So you know how Korean's taste buds are different from all rest of Asians. This is the first time challenge if Koreans have the same taste buds as Japanese and Chinese. Korean foods are TOO HOT or TOO SWEET or TOO SALTY or TOO anything! That's why no Japanese people don't eat Korean foods in Japan. It is a genetic thing. Depending on the country, preference differ especially Japan and Korea are 100% different in culture and DNA.

Americans may love ramen for those qualities noted in the video but let's not forget the main reason here. it's freakin' affordable. By affordable, I mean cheap! Where else would a bare-bones 'pasta' meal cost about a quarter? Yeah, you can up the cost by slicing a hot dog into it but it still feeds a body for under a buck. A lot of students (and quite a large percentage of today's working families) would starve if it weren't for ramen being so inexpensive. It's even cheaper than that traditional american favorite. mac and cheese!

Korean ramen is just better. In fact, I think Korean ramen is unrivaled. Japanese ramen is original, sure, but it tastes too mild. Western ramen is no more savory than sone Campbell's soup. Indian Ramen like Maggi gets close in deliciousness, but its flavous just aren't as complex or deep. Pho has too much broth, Chinese (instant) noodles have too many discrete flavours, etc. Korean ramen is the best in the world. The country should be proud of such a culinary achievement. Truly delicious and remarkable.

Just stick with the packaged instant Korean ramen bc the addition of other fresh ingredients do not improve the already great taste of packaged Korean instant ramen. In my opinion; The extra cost of fresh style ramen is not worth the significant increase in cost, nor the extra time it takes to eat them. Korean packaged ramen's taste is already perfected and has no room for improvement. As an instant food, just leave the extras and eat it as it comes.

Clarification: The Japanese took La Mien from the Chinese and made it their own Ramen. The Ramen you know today is Japanese, you cannot discredit the Japanese for what they made ramen today. The Chinese can take credit for the origins but have 0 correlation for what it is now. The Chinese have always been salty because the Japanese took parts of their culture and made it 100x better. Not only that but because everyone likes the Japanese better too

I dont see anything wrong with stealing someones ideas, its like blaming Italians on pasta and saying stick with your pizzas. Getting a different inspiration and take it one step further - a good thing. But, as someone says, this isnt a recreation of Korean ramyon, rather a creation of something that didnt exist before, it falls in its own category which is perfectly fine, though

Of course MSG is naturally occurring (such as in tomatoes) and Harold McGee debunked the 'Chinese Restaurant Syndrome' where people claimed to be affected by the MSG content. Yes too much salt is probably not great for you but MSG is in so many foods simply naturally to give you the umami experience that the fear of it should really be gone by now. Just make it delicious.

I can see from a first glance that is NOT a Korean ramyun. That ramen is heavily influenced by the Japanese style ramen (thick, heavy broth, noodles, chashu and other toppings. And yes, like all the other comments say, ramen originated from China. I hope you can go over the history of food at least a little bit so that you don't get yourself chewed by comments.

typical instant noodles gets softer until mushed if continue to boil pass its package boiling time, some brands are finicky that one minute excess will quickly change the noodle texture. But koreans say it their instant noodles turns springy and nice if you add cold water on a cooked instant noodles, sound odd but I guess it works
