Where Does Salt Come From? How to Make It

On this episode of How To Make It, chef Katie Pickens is turning ocean water into fancy salt with Steve, of Amagansett Sea Salt. American: Does anyone else's mouth get salty when watching something like this! I love how they say they make salt, when they simply separate it from the water. God made the salt brother, you just found a way to profit from it by extracting it from the sea! Also, sea salt doesn't contain the iodine that regular table salt does, but I like it better than table salt.

it only took 6 seconds into the video for her to start over-reacting. i don't think hearing who his customers are is really worthy of the breathtaking reaction. it's like it was a newsflash to her that people sell things, and they sell them to customers

Imagine if each family goes to the beach once a week and collect a bucket of seawater and made their own salt. The salt business will evaporate like seawater and what will remain is Himalayan salt that is apparently healthy.

There's probably an already significant but still ever increasing amount of micro plastics in that salt. Ocean water is filthy and yet the elitists are enamoured by this salt that's basically just salt (plus the plastics.

I wonder how cost effective it would be to increase the amount of salt yield per year by adding Infrared heaters on top of using the sun. It would add to electricity costs but then he would be able to sell more salt per year.

My dumb ass just ate half a cup of Clive Of India Curry Powder and i noticed the expiration date on it. 09/04/16I'M GONNA DIE BECAUSE I WAS SCAVENGING FOR FOOD IN MY PANTRY AT MIDNIGHT AND DECIDED TO EAT EXPIRED CURRY POWDER.

Very interesting, but at the same time. one of the most pretentious BS foodie, artisan videos I've ever seen! Especially her over-acting about how delicious it is. She could get a gig in Bollywood!

This type of salt tastes and really has a different texture because thr classic factory mass made salt is So refined and bleached that it removes tgr natural mineral tastes and texture.

They come from the sea, a body of salty water that extends over the horizon and merchants can spend their entire lives on it and still never get all the salt. Cant wait for season 4 btw.
