Matthew Kang is in Toronto at Uncle Mikey's- a restaurant doing Korean takes on refined French cuisine. Ferdinand: In Paris more and more bistrots are serving thai style steak tartare with lime, mango, lemongrass and chili pepper. A korean style recipe seems rad though I might try it. Also in more traditionnal recipes, not only can you spice things up with mustard but you're often given the option to use tabasco as well.

I eat traditional Italian gnocchi regularly (one of my favorite dishes) and have had Parisian gnocchi a few times. Tasty indeed but I'm intrigued that this chef deep fries them. That's a nice twist. Yup. I'd be all over that.

This place is far from approachable maybe for someone who is Korean or French but items like Tare tare and fatty cuts of steak are off putting to western people and place looks expensive coming from someone who is Asian

I got drunk and bough gogujang spelling and thought it was ketchup, that stuff is life changing, I now put it on everything, try in with kraft dinner (mac and cheese for our american friends) try it, you will love it.

Um no this is NOT what Korean food in Toronto looks like. This is over hyped pretentious hipster food. It looks yummy I'm sure but don't paint our city's authentic Korean cuisine with this one comment you douchebag.

The ''french'' side of the dish just looks absolutely unnecessary. Why TF would you use good steak if you're going to slather it with sauce anyway? 99% of fusion cuisine is just trash

wait did he just describe Banchan as crunchy and fresh (2: 21? I could be wrong, but isn't most banchan pickled (meaning a dish is at least one week old? I mean Kimchi is fermented cabbage.

Parisian gnocchi with oxtail braise is the bomb: ! Food is so refined and delicious at Uncle Mikey's. Delicious but casual approachable food: !
