Grilling a Giant Pacific Red Octopus Deep Dive

video description

Rating: 4.5; Vote: 2
On this episode of Deep Dive, chef Jacob Harth shows us what goes into the intense process of cooking the giant pacific red octopus found in Tillamook Bay in Portland, Oregon. It usually weighs anywhere from 20 to 100 pounds, and measures 10 to 12 feet in length. This species loves to eat crab, and often eat all of the crab in fishermen s catches, so by buying and cooking the octopus for his restaurant, the chef is also helping local fishermen who lose their day s catch

I think the flavor from salt water cooking is just the salty water penetrating the meat by osmosis not actually 'preserving octopus water' because the water in the octopus would actually leak out more given the saltier water. (But I don't know)

Aren't we already in a Coronavirus situation? What would it take to stop this hunger of killing more and more animals for the Human's never-satisfying taste, more panadamic occurance?

Looks delicious, i didnt now that cooking octopus with alot of water and not enough salt takes away the flavour, but of course it makes sense considering the effect of osmosis.
