Learn how to make Puffy Taco Shells Harry Hathaway: There is a resteruant in Point Pleasant, Nj ( A mile from the Ocean ) close to Seaside Heights called FINS The place iinside s painted in a tropical / carribean/ surfer theme with blue skies, oceans, coconut trees, and clown fish. The exterior is just as fun to look at. ANYWAY, they serve ALL kinds of tropical cuisine and exotic smoothies but my favorites are their tacos. Last week I was working in the area and had to stop in and have some goodies they're. 1 was a crab taco and the other was a tuna taco. Don't know the rest of the ingredients but it was SUPERB Awesome if anyone that reads this lives in New Jersey you have to stop in in Point Pleasant New Jersey and try this place there's no alcohol served so it is a family setting but it's fun to be there they have a big aquarium where kids can watch the fish swim around but their food is very fun and very exotic. Yum

It would be awesome to see you do a Navajo Fry Bread Taco. Think of a thick fried naan sort of thing? But no char and deep fried chicken brown. Typically served with a whole bean and ground beef chili. Gotta have the white onion and green chiles. Then pile on the cheap home taco toppings: diced tomatoes, iceberg lettuce (no such thing as a Navajo taco with romaine, grated cheese, more onion, some cheap picante or chile sauce. Brings me back to school lunches in northern NM. Mexican street tacos are great, but a good Navajo Taco is about as authentically American as you can get. I recommend everyone add it to their bucket list.

Thanks Chef John, whipped these up tonight. Very simple, and they were great--my Mom says there's nothing I could possibly have done to make these better. I ended up taking a long spatula and pinning it down in the center for that taco shape. Your method was probably more practical, but I just couldn't bring myself to break the shell. Love your videos, I've been practically binge watching since I rediscovered you last week.

I've seen your videos they all look good and have made a few. There is one I would like to see and that is Tomato Pie. Yes tomato pie and it's not a pizza, an actual pie like an apple pie. Mom use to make it before she passed and I haven't had tomato pie in years. Gone thru the internet but what they make is not Tomato Pie. Wish I had spent more time with her in the kitchen.

As someone who lived in San Antonio for 4 years, I'll tell you before you make a special trip. they're not exactly commonplace in the city, I mean they are there, but they're not on every menu or even every Mexican menu. You'd have as much luck finding them in Houston or Arizona for that matter. Pretty baller when you find them though

6: 33 Sorry Chef John but I've been to San Antonio. The only two things I remember are Air Force basic training Lackland AFB and living for 6 weeks on nothing but pecan pie and water. Had some serious time constraints back then. Oh well. Pecan pie is still one of my favorite friends.

Chef John, try some Southern fried pies With apples, or peaches, or apricots, or with some sort of berries. (you could also use a chocolate pudding/ganash too) I would love to see how someone other than my late Mother and late Grandmother would do these

There's an indian snack called pani puri that uses small wheat puffed shells that look very similar. I think you would like it Chef John. Its filled with spiced potato and chickpea. Give it a try next time you're at an indian restaurant
