This Cheesy Bloomin' Onion Bread is a great way to serve the bread to a gathering and everybody will be impressed. It looks and tastes soo good. The melted, gooey cheese is just too tempting. Ingredients Makes about 6-8 servings 1 pound (400-450 g) unsliced loaf bread 3. 5 oz (100 g) Matured Cheddar Cheese, thinly sliced 3. 5 oz (100g) Mozzarella Cheese, thinly sliced 1/3 cup (70 g) butter, melted 1/2 cup green onions, chopped (about 4-5 green onions) 2 tsp flax and sesame seeds, optional Directions 1. Preheat the oven to 350 F (180C. 2. Cut the bread lengthwise and widthwise without cutting all the way through the bottom crust. Place it on a foil lined baking sheet. 3. Combine chopped onions with butter and seeds if used. 4. Arrange cheese slices between the bread cuts. 5. Pour the butter-onion mixture into bread cracks. 6. Cover with foil and bake for 15 minutes. Unwrap and bake for another 10 minutes until the cheese is melted and gooey.

I made this with a liaf of crusty italian cibiatta bread. I doubled the butter to 1/2 cup and added 2 cloves of finely chopped garlic, 1 teaspoon of onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, 2Tablespoons of Kraft grated parmesian-romano cheese, 1/4 teaspoon of dried chili flakes and 2Tablespoons of dried basil to the butter and chopped green onion mixture. My sons loved it and think it tastes better than the original recipe which they thought was a little bland. A couple of loaves of this bread served with several large pitchers of iced tea is an awesome treat for teenage sons and their friends watching Rugby Union on the tele.

Great recipe However I think your technique could use a little tweaking. Instead of cutting the bread in both directions at once it would be easier to cut and fill the longer direction first. Then once the first set of cuts are filled you cross cut horizontally to open up a second set of cuts. This allows you to fill the cross-cuts with whole slices of cheese instead of having to slot in lots of little narrow bits one at a time as you demonstrate at 2: 00.

What type of bread would you use for this or what bread did you use? Can I use even a simple bread recipe to do this? Can whole wheat also pull this off since my mom eat whole wheat?

hi. i loved ur recipe and would be trying soon. i have a question. i have a conventional oven and i think foil paper is not allowed in it. any other option to bake this.

looks good When I make this I'll put garlic powder (or maybe minced garlic) in the onion butter mixture. I'll also use cut white onions since I'm not a fan of green onions: )
