Maangchi, it looked like after the last steaming after you added all the nuts and fruit, sugar and honey that a lot of brown sugar/honey sauce drained out in the steaming. the cloth got brown. Is there anyway to prevent that?

Maangchi, where could i buy the can chest nut. all i can see in the store is the water chestnut i know that isnt the right one, but can i use the chestnut in a pack sell at the asian store the Dan. D brand?

In tamilnadu we call this as Pongal, and ofcourse with some changes in the way we prepare and also the ingredients. we also used to eat this as breakfast or snacks.

Looks yum. Something very similar to an Indian dessert Chekkera pongali which is a temple food, offered to God in Hindu temples.
