Today Im going to show you how to cut up a whole chicken into parts that you can use in many recipes. Buying a chicken in packaged, precut pieces is convenient and easy, but buying a whole chicken and then cutting it up yourself has a lot of advantages. First, its cheaper! Second, you get all the parts, especially the backbone, which has a lot of meat in it, and also usually the giblets. Third, you get the oysters, which are the best part of the chicken! Hi Maangchi, I'm from Bangladesh and even though we cook chicken very differently from koreans but we cut it the same way you showed for traditional chicken curries but the thing is most of the bengali moms don't cut the chicken with a knife they use another kind of cutting device that we call boti but I don't know how to cut stuffs with a boti so for a long time i couldn't cut chicken at home lol but after watching you cutting it perfectly with a knife I now don't have to buy cut pieces anymore thank you so much

I'm so glad I'm a dark meat person and my hubby is a white meat person. We don't ever fight over the chicken drumstick. Thanks for showing the oyster, Maangchi. I never knew it existed, I would have just put the rest of the backbone into the stock pot.

Never heard of oysters in chicken. I cut my chicken like a barbarian too. In my country Nigeria, ibo tribe, the gizzards is for the elderly man or the father of the house. The back is for the woman of the house or the oldest lady

Here in the Philippines everyone wants drumstick and wing parts! But for street food, fried chicken head, neck, intestine, liver, and private parts us a must! It may be disgusting, but the crispy-ness and great flavour make you love it!

Why would u wear long sleeves while working with chicken. I usr clorox to sanitize the entire area, including my hands when i work with raw chicken.

Definitely the thighs are best part. Followed by drumstick (lower leg. We love gizzards and livers in Southeastern U. S. (Alabama/Mississippi)
