Rice is very important to Korean cuisine. Its the center of pretty much every meal and in fact the Korean word for cooked rice (bap: ) can also mean meal. Most of the time Korean eat white rice or multigrain rice, but on special occasions we prepare rice mixed with red beans, called patbap.

I love watching how you dont let anything go to waste and re use the bean water (tastier Im sure) I love watching how amazingly clean and thorough you are and never miss a beat on cleanliness and usefulness of everything and the way you describe things are amazing and did I mention how incredibly beautiful you are and so sweet! I personally dont do well with spicy but I can just put less spicy seasoning to my liking. I love spicy my stomach and body rejects it. This rice dish and other sides are perfect! Keep being who you are! Amazing!

Made this tonight. But cooked the beans for 60 minutes then put everything in the rice cooker. This came out perfect Maagchi! Served it with a shrimp, zucchini, and cabbage stir fry. The sauce had fish sauce, oyster sauce, gochugaru
, gochujang, and soy sauce. Was perfect with doenjang jjigae.

The Korean red bean rice is the same as the one we used to eat back in Somalia as dinner. Everything is the same except the fact that there is more beans and less rice. We used to boil it and eat it with sesame oil and sugar. But I'm gonna try the side dishes. They look delicious and healthy.

Thank you Maangchi! I never knew the official name of this rice dish, but always love it at the Korean Restaurants. I used to always ask, Do you have that purple rice with beans? Now I can make it myself, and also ask properly at the restaurants PAPBAP! Red rice, not purple. haha

After two weeks of isolation, I have been running out of ideas for what to cook for my family. But guess what I have in my fridge and pantry? Red beans, rice and some kimchi! I know what I'm having for dinner tonight - thank you Maangchi! You are a national treasure!

Where do you get your pots and steamer? I don't want to waste my money on a steamer that will break on me or be impossible to clean and all of the ones I have found locally are cheap and plastic

I love watching your videos! I want to try and make everything you make. My family won't eat it cause God forbid it is good for them. How do I make smaller portions for maybe 2 people?

Can you make a video about Winter Kimchi? I am so intrigued. I've recently started learning to make kimchi watching your videos, there's so much to learn and I love it.
