Well I made this dish vegan and my family lost their minds! I used Awesome Grounds and made my usual egg/dairy free corn bread. It was delicious, and we had enough leftover for a second lighter snack. There are four of us so you know we ate heartily. I feared it might bake up dry with the double crust but it didn t. Everyone added their favorite toppers and instead of cheese I mixed a few tablespoons of nutritional yeast and extra water to the meat mixture for the cheesy flavor. (Lots of flexibility is necessary in this time of quarantine. . My vegan version looked exactly like your video. Loved it! Thanks.

I never did put the corn bread on the bottom, just on top. I put the corn in the hamb I think I didn't use creamed corn. Can't remember. Your corn bread mixture looks great. I'll try that. I saw a vlogger adding hominy to the hamb mixture. That sounded pretty good too. I love green pepper n onion in mine. I'm getting hungry now. TY for the vid and great corn bread mix.

I bought a Safeway frozen Mexican Lasagma. It wasn't very good. I called them and told them to use cornbread instead of white, mushy tortillas, and let them know there was too much cumin, and not enough cheese. So nice to see you used cornbread, and added more chili powder instead of overwhelming cumin. I like cumin as a base note, not a top note, ya know?

Just made it for my boyfriends Mother for Mother s Day! It so reminds me of what our cafeteria people at Holy Family School in Tulsa made when I was a child. I only added one thing, a drained can of pinto beans. I love beans! Also, I love all of your recipes and the kindness of your voice! Regards, Debra Cherny from Tulsa, Oklahoma! Happy Mothers Day to you!

So I m making this and it s baking In the oven right now. I used the substitutions that someone on here suggested, and I HOPE it turns out right! I m using ground turkey meat because I can t have high fat meats. I wish we were able to send pictures of the end results! Oh and I couldn t put cheese in it but wish I could

I haven't had tamale pie since I was a kid in L. A. My parents would by a boxed concoction and I loved it. We of course don't have such a thing here in NY but this looks super easy and I'm sure it's waaaayyy more delicious. I'll be making this. Thank you so much!

I can't add much from previous comments. I will try, certainly. I enjoy your positive voice and tenor. It's just a pleasure to listen to you as you cook. Like my own Mama, many, many years ago. Always happy in the kitchen. Is there a better place, really?
