Thank you to USAID - My visit to Lebanon was supported by the USAID Lebanon Enterprise Development Project. Hadath El Jebbeh, Lebanon - We drove from Beirut to Hadath El Jebbeh, a small village on the edge of Kadisha Valley in Lebanon. In the village, we met up with Ward from Ward Cafe Trottoir who runs a cosy mountain restaurant serving traditional Lebanese food and local mountain dishes. Here are a few of the delicious ingredients and Lebanese foods I learned about: Husrum - Sour, young grape vinegar Labneh - Creamy cheese made from yoghurt, essential in Lebanese cuisine Shanklish - Aged and dried Levantine cheese Awarma eggs - Eggs with salted lamb fat Macaroon Toum - Lebanese garlic pasta Kishk - Dried yoghurt with bulgur wheat, made into porridge Kadisha Valley - After an amazing meal with Ward, we continued our journey into the beautiful Kadisha Valley and visited the spectacular Deir Mar Elisha monastery. Cedars of God - The symbol of Lebanon, as has been for thousands of years is the Cedar of Lebanon, also known as the Cedars of God. They were spectacular to see in person, they are truly majestic trees. Ehden, Lebanon - Finally, we ended this day in Lebanon in the town of Ehden for some sahlab - milk pudding

Hi Mark. Just cant get enough of your videos. I discovered you a few weeks ago, before your trip to Lebanon. I enjoyed your videos from Europe, Africa, Asia and South America. Adored your video in Parana when you got bemothered by the market ladies. So authenticAnd now youre in Lebanon man So great. This video with Ward is so great, as it gets a side rarely seen on the internet, being such an insider thing. My father is Lebanese, I lived there for 12 years, so I know if something is authentic Lebanese food or not. My mother is German, I lived there for 25 years, so I have this influence too. For 17 years I live in Portugal, which is, as you already showed, a great country with friendly people and delicious food. I want to thank you for your work. It brings people from around the world closer, helps tear down barriers. You are a true ambassador of Peace. If youre still in Lebanon: try to get in contact with a lady named Barbara Abdeni Massaad. She is very much into authentic Lebanese food. She wrote a few cookbooks, one of them Manouche is one of my favourites. Look her up on the internet, you might be still able to meet her. Peace and love to you and your beautiful family. Khaled.

Hi Mark, thank you so much for showing me the world. Because of you my vision of the world has changed and I want you to know how much I appreciate your travel and experience of other cultures. Because of you, I have a better understanding of different cultures that are not the same as mine. not based on the news and I love it. Please continue to do what you do because you add to the love of other cultures.

Thanks to our ignorance and prejudices and medias images I always thought Lebanon is another Saudi Arabia full of mullahas, crazy jihadis, veil clad women with no rights and men ruling supreme. Shame but just being honest. Pleasantly surprised and good to see beautiful Lebanese women and food and above all geographical diversity

Thank you Mark for taking us all over the world and opening our eyes to the culinary diversity in this beautiful world The food is so different from what we have here in Indonesia, we don't have any dairy AT ALL in our cuisine (not that I know of. It's so interesting to see how many varieties of dishes can be created using dairy

As an Indian, I completely understood when she said that mountain people eat heavy food. We too eat very heavy food like siddu which is dipped in ghee. in spite of that, mountain people used to be very fit. Lamb is again one of our specialities.
