Thank you to for hosting me on my trip to Tibet SHIGATSE, TIBET - Along with Lhasa, Shigatse is one of the most important and largest cities in Tibet. We had the honor to explore Shigatse for the day, learn about the city, eating Tibetan food, and learn about the amazing Tibetan culture. #Shigatse #Tibet #food Tibetan breakfast - Theres nothing better to eat for breakfast in Tibet than tsampa - roasted barley flour, mixed with yak cheese, yak butter, and sugar, and formed into small hand-squeezed balls. It grows like a loaf of bread in your stomach - its so hearty and filling. The best part of the experience was eating it in a local home and watching them as they made it for breakfast, the common way they do everyday for breakfast. The butter tea was excellent. Tibetan food lunch - We went to a local family restaurant for lunch we we tried a number of Tibetan, and specifically Shigatse foods, including dumpling in soup, a fried bread stuffed with yak, fried sheep lungs, and Tibetan blood sausage. It was a heavy and meaty lunch, and the food was delicious. Tashilhunpo Monastery - As the palace of the Panchen Lama (second most important spiritual figure in Tibetan Buddhism, the Tashilhunpo Monastery is one of the most sacred and important sites in Shigatse. After walking around the temple complex in the morning, we then went into the temple complex in the afternoon. It was a great day of food, exploring, and learning in Shigatse, Tibet. Thank you to Travel China & Tibet they sponsored my trip to Tibet, and they did an amazing job to cater to the exact things I wanted to do. Highly recommended when you visit Tibet

omgtashi lhunpu monastery PANCHEN RINPOCHE'S MONASTERY. I still wonder where abouts of Panchen lama. if anyone don't know he is the world's youngest political prisoner. Once he was declared as 11th panchen lama by the Dalai lama, chinese authorities kidnapped him saying candidate is illegal n invalid but the chinese communist appointed FAKE Panchen lamaAs for china, religion is a poison but they made an extreme effort to appoint their version of panchen lama. FOR WHAT? who even gave them right to appoint important tibetan religious figure According to Tibetan buddhist tradition, only Dalai lama has right to find his teacher and vice versa. So folks all in all PANCHEN LAMA has been missing since. I hope he is in good health away from torture and hopefully meet His Holiness The Dalai Lama soon.

that tsampa they made in pouch is PAK and that pouch is known as PUK. I find it funny u saying heavy and oily food but u had plenty of overlly loaded oily food in south asia which can stay in ur body as fat lol But in Tibet No matter how heavy and oily the food is ur body can digest it all due to cold n high altitude and u don't even gain weight. Have u seen any obese ppl around in Tibet? Show lessREPLY

It always amazes me how some people will just try anything. I wish I was like that, so I admire u Mark. I'm so picky and don't like so many things that I would starve if I traveled the way u do. It's gotta be hard though, when u have the people of the place you're at watching u try these foods and u don't like it, how do u react(rhetorical question)

The Tibetan culture has so much beauty within, the vibrant colors and we'll crafted items are just mind blowing, to me. When Mark relaxed after lunch and said the lungs and the flour was hitting him. I couldn't help but to laugh. Hey Ying and Micah

That flicking of the tea with the finger is similar to Hindu practice (have seen this mostly in north India) where we offer food to god before consuming it ourselves. Some people do that to their first peg of alcohol too.
