Loving the Mauritius series. Hv been to this country two times and loved the place, people, food and the culture especially since I share some aspects of their food and culture. Centuries back, people from Eastern UP and Bihar were uprooted fm their homes and were sent across the Oceans to work in the sugarcane fields of Mauritius. Thousands of miles away from their hone, these hard working people adopted this place as their own and have brought their own culture and food to add to this country's rich heritage. These indentured labourers are called Girmitiyas and there is a gallery dedicared to them in the famous Bihar Museum in Patna, my home town. Hopefully you can visit thus part of India too to try the delicious Dal Puri, which is slightly thicker version of Dholl Puri.

Hi Mark. Big fan of you. I was quite disappointed with the guide’s limited knowledge of Mauritian cuisine. Mauritius has so much more to offer, including delicious dishes like 7 cari, chicken curry, mauritian pastries, indian food, chicken salmi, sagoo, and aplon, etc. It’s a shame these weren’t highlighted. I highly recommend finding a guide who not only knows the rich culinary landscape but also understands the deep history of Mauritius. This would provide a much more enriching experience. Glad you had some good moments in Mauritius.

The sandwich had a lot of good flavor and ingredients. the drink place had some really nice tasty stuff to drink. The table where they had the plated foods had a lot of great choices to eat from, everything works together vey well. barbecue corn cob, grilled very well looks amazing. lamb grilled looks great too me, the chicken looked great fresh to, you tank everyone at that and of you videos, that shows respect to how always there and took part.

Loving watching you showcase Mauritius. Thanks for covering Chinese mauritian history and food as well! Our heritage is often forgotten except when people talk about our foods since we are the minority on the island. The tea at Pakistan seems so simple but it brings back memories for me. My dad used to take me there for tea and gateau piment after work when I was a kid.

Mark, love your videos and i know my constructive feedback may not matter but please keep it at 25 minutes. i find it difficult to finish a 45 minute video although i look forward to your videos. just think the history of the area though important should be a little less of focus similar to your past videos.
Always a fan

Another great video Mark! But i'm confused, isn't 'Tikka' basically pieces of meat or veggies or paneer that are marinated and then COOKED IN A TANDOOR The first one was a fried dish so I don't think it qualifies to be called Tikka. Or is tikka just the process of marination and not the cooking in tandoor

Mark, can you kindly tell us how you remain slim because I am having doubts about you actually eating all that food. I love your videos a lot, but it doesn't seem normal regarding your size and the types or amount of foods you eat! Kindly help me out as a loyal Mark fan!

That Abu Dhabi Grill place looks amazing. That'd sell for $20-$30 in the US as a food truck. Hell, even those fries look much better than the fries I've had at food trucks in the US. That lady knows what's she doing.

Tears in my eyes that you were here finally.
There is so much more to see or to taste. but for a first time here, its already good. Have a trip planned in Bangkok in 2026. Will surely pay a visit to your restaurant

Mom, why is he eating off of your plate Why does he get his own plate He needs to have his own plate so that he will start reaching over and picking up your food. I’m just saying that’s all.

No offence to the Julien but Ashwin from Taste Buddies would have done a much better job. I heartfully feel that the rich history of Mauritius has been underrated during most of the trip.

you remind me soo much of Anthony Bourdain (R. I. P) just keep doing what you do. Love watching your videos after a hard days work and INSPIRE me to cook in different ways.

The chicken tikka shown here we have in India too as chicken kabiraji in my hometown of Kolkata which you already visited. It also came about as a British-Indian food.
