T-shirts: Thai Food Guides: Yes, the real name of this restaurant is Cheap Cheap Restaurant, and its located just down the road from the main drag of Ao Nang - the touristy central of Krabi. There are a lot of restaurants in Ao Nang that cater to mostly touristy, both international restaurants and Thai restaurants. Through some family contacts, we went to Cheap Cheap Restaurant, and I was quite impressed with the menu they literally had almost everything, from every corner of Thailand on their menu - there must be hundreds of dishes to choose from. While they did have some popular touristy dishes like pad Thai, they also had some seriously good southern and even northern Thai dishes. Soon I found out that the chef at Cheap Cheap restaurant in Ao Nang was a former hotel chef, and knew how to cook just about every type of Thai dish. We first began with a coconut to drink, which was incredibly sweet and refreshing. I dont drink coconut too often, but I really enjoy them when I do. They are so fresh and hydrating and just naturally sweet. The main dish I was most interested in trying was their version of pla sai tod kamin, deep fried fish made with sand whiting fish, which are kind of small French fry sized fish, which are quite popular to eat in Krabi. The stack of fish came to our table extremely crispy, and topped with a mound of crispy turmeric and garlic, and served with a chili garlic lime sauce on the side. They were extremely delicious. The other dishes we ordered at Cheap Cheap Restaurant in Krabi included, kai jeow ) - a Thai style omelet, soup neua ) - beef soup, gaeng som cha om kai ) - soup with climbing wattle omelet inside. All the dishes we tried at Cheap Cheap Restaurant were excellent. I think its a good restaurant in Ao Nang to order a diverse range of good Thai food. Hey MarkI was recently in Ao Nang for holiday and had an amazing experience at Cheap Cheap To be honest with you, we tried other places in the area and were thoroughly disappointed. We always went back to Cheap Cheap at the end of the day. The 2nd time we came in the woman looked at me and remembered me as som tam boo pla ra girl right away hahaI think the name might throw some people off as being cheap in terms of quality as well, but every dish we had (especially the pla tod kamin) was really great and really affordable compared to other restaurants of much lower quality and authenticity. I've been craving that fish everyday since my trip Thanks for your awesome suggestions, Mark

I've always felt that tails should only be left on shrimp if the preparation intends for you to eat them with your hands. If not, the tails should be removed before serving. I know leaving at least some of the shell on during cooking adds more 'shrimpy' flavor, though, so that could be a reason to still leave them on. Also, I guess it offers an option to treat as a finger food regardless of the preparation if you really want to. I just hate having to take them off when I'm trying to eat a dish w/ fork/spoon/chopsticks only. Presentation alone definitely isn't a good enough reason to me to leave them on.

dear Mark, Thank you for tge video we stayed in ao nang last November and almost went to Potjawan Seafood restaurant at the other end of Ao Nang. not so touristy as it is at the end of Ao Nang and we felt it was a very friendly atmosphere and very nice people. As our first time in Asia we didnt try all the dished but were overwhelmed by those whe had ordered. spring rolls, fried rice, chicken with cashew nuts, some soups and currys. If you come across that restaurant I would be courious to know how you rate it Love to watch your videoa. best regards from Germany Jan

Soooo disappointing After a long walk in the heat to the restaurant, we were all looking forward to our meal. We ordered every dish you did and more. there were 5 of us. As you know, rice is most important when eating Thai food. You spoon all the delicious flavors onto it and savor the results of all the blended tastes. We asked for our rice 4 times and it never arrived until after all the dishes we ordered had been consumed.

wow this looked like one heck of a good stop. we have a thai place in the local shopping center here where I live. It isnt at all cheap. but one of their cooks has been there forever and has great presentation like the visual prep you see there, and when your order is prepared by her, it is incredible. the flavor is always good but some cooks just have a talent.

Hi Mark. Been there like 2-3 weeks ago and the food was good although I think your dishes were prepared especially for this video since they weren't usually that color- and flavourfull. Unfortunatelly Ao Nang is not really a foodie destination. We loved however the Boat Noodle which is a little up the same road, towards the mosque. Try them next time

i really love the famous fruit carvings in thailand because they are colourful and beautiful. i even notice my favourite orchid which is the dendrobium sonia bom that has been extensively used by thai airways on the dandwie and mango dessert. you can use the cherry tomato to make salads and sandwiches.
