Go check out Lalo: Mexico City street food guide: Xochimilco is one of the most interesting cultural areas to visit when youre in Mexico City. It was formerly a series of pre-Hispanic villages along Lake Xochimilco. Eventually Mexico City expanded and grew all the way to Xochimilco, and now its one of the boroughs of the city. Whats most remarkable about Xochimilco, and the reason most people go to visit is because of the extensive network of canals that form the framework of the area. Nowadays, you can rent the brightly colored boats and take a ride, eating and drinking along the way. I was there on a weekend evening, and it was a bit more rowdy and loud than I had wanted it to be, but it was still very fun. If you go during the daytime, you might have a more peaceful relaxing journey at Xochimilco. Heres what Lalo and I did on our short visit: Mercado de Xochimilco - This is the main market of Xochimilco, and one of the best places to get started eating traditional Mexican food when you visit Xochimilco. At the entrance of the market youll find rows of vendors selling home-cooked foods. Dont miss them, they are incredible delicious. Along with rare types of tlayudas, the highlight for me was the chicken tostada which blew me away. Heres the list of everything we ate, but really you can just walk around, see what looks good, and try it: Tlacoyo - 12 MXN (0. 65) each Tostada - 15 MXN (0. 81) each Taco - 5 MXN (0. 27) each Jamaica - 10 MXN (0. 54) Carnitas - 20 MXN (1. 08) each After eating, we walked over to the boat pier. And unfortunately we were running a little late on time and it was a race against time and daylight, but we made it to the pier. Lalo talked to the boat crews, and we finally arranged a boat. The cost was a little higher than what it would normally be for locals, but unfortunately, thats what it came down to. Boat hire - 850 MXN (45. 91)

I love the way you share your food, and you are not afraid to eat after your friends, and your friends eat after you. And WOW under a dollar for food. My mailman wants to move to anither country after he retires next year, and I told him to watch your videos to check out the other countries for the food. You paid a quarter for food that would cost us around 2. 50 and would half the meat and I bet it would not taste near as good. The meat looks so fresh. Even Burger King here costs almost 10 for one person, and that does not even come close to the flavor of fresh tortillas, fresh meat, and homemade salsa.

Last time we went to Xochimilco with family from CDMX our boat crashed into another one in front and then two from behind crashed into ours. its a violent crash since those boats are all wood with nothing to soften the blow and then the boat drivers got really hostile with each other and I thought they were gonna kill each other. the waters are completely black and polluted too like rotting water. not the best experience, maybe the one in cancun xoximilco is better since its one company only and more organized and cleaner waters

I really love your videos you did such a great job with the editing it feels like I'm there with you going to the place except not eating which is sad and I also like how you put the price on things that we we get an idea if we ever decide to go to know what to expect and I also like that you post whatever devices you use to make this video so awesome no one really does that keep doing what you do I love all your videos.

I hope this isn't taken wrong, I mean I'm Mexican myself, but the ferries seemed too packed and chaotic especially with loud music on everywhere simultaneously. Maybe if the ferries were a bit more spaced out. Nonetheless, I love Marc Wein's videos Micah for sure will travel too when he's older, such a cutie

Mark it looks so good but I'm still wondering how you can even taste it with all that hot sauce. You say it burning your lips so how are you able to taste the chicken meat? Take a video with your wife eating along side you. She's always in back ground. She a big part of these videos so is baby Micha

I love Jamaica When I was younger we used to drive from New Jersey to Jalisco. It took us days but it was worth it. On our way back to Jersey we encountered rain and then realized we had sacks of Jamaica on top of our van. Needless to say, nature made the Jamaica juice for us.
