no no no this is just some nonsense shit. Taiwanese dont eat this kind of -hot pot-. First, you dont roast the meat before putting them into the water to make broth. Second you dont use different kinds of meat when it comes to making broth. Third, what is dat peanut butter for? who eats hot pot with peanut butter so crazy. Fourth, why the broth is so dense and the color is so weird. you are not supposed to add any flavor into the broth for hot pot except bones and vegetable maybe some chinese herbs. Fifth. this is the most crazy thing about this video. how come you dont have a stove under the hot pot when its on the table? u are not suppose to put in anything raw if the pot is not boiling. This ABC should just ask her parents on what a hot pot looks like before filming this -hot pot- tutorial. Yes it is hot pot but definitely not taiwanese hot pot!

Taiwanese-American food blogger with dual-citizenship here. The techniques she's using are not Taiwanese, they're French/New American. Most Taiwanese kitchens are not kitted out with full-sized ovens and it's so bloody hot there most of the time that no one would turn them on if they were. She's also using the wrong type of pot. Seems more like a hybrid Pot Au Feu broth with Taiwanese hot pot toppings. Her Mandarin pronunciation is atrocious; not a fluent speaker. --There's nothing fundamentally wrong with the recipe. Hot pot is all about getting a big group of friends and family around a communal pot of boiling broth and enjoying each other's company. She's nailed that here. However, we Taiwanese are very proud of our cuisine. This is not an accurate representation of it.

All Asians secretly hate each other, always fussing about with dos and don't. Oh you can't do this, oh that can't be done like that, can't mix this and that. I get it though, she probably butchered taiwans food, or whatever. And yes, she could of just called it her hot pot, which was just warm, so her warm pot. And she could of not talked like thiss, and dragged out all the words like she just took a giant dabbb mann. What was my point anyway? Oh yeah, Asians stop being so Asian and the rest of y'all. Y'all got any pot man? Lol

This is such a cute video! I adore the outtakes at the end. So similar to how I know to make hotpot. With all the same ingredients although we include lobo in the broth as the first ingredient to cook. We also only use yolks in the sauce and put whites in hotpot. I would start with Napa a little before other vegetables then taro. I also like to add gailan. Oh, how I can not wait for fall/winter to make this with my family. - Thank you for making this video. It was a pleasure to watch.

What the shit is this? I grew up in Taiwan, while I appreciate that she tried to make things from scratch, I don't think I've ever seen anyone go this far to prep the soup base, people usually just use chicken stock or if you want the spicy kind they have pre-packaged mix you can buy. And boiling water is a must, not this Crock Pot slow-cooker BS, people usually use a portable propane or electric cooktop with a big pot.

I made the broth a couple of weeks ago and stuck it in the freezer. I defrosted the broth last night and had a hot pot party. Broth was extremely good. AND, the peanut sesame sauce was a BIG hit. One thing though, the video shows adding cilantro to the food processor when making the sauce but the recipe doesn't list cilantro as an ingredient. I just eyeballed the amount of cilantro on the video and threw some in. AMAZING.

man, there are so many shitty comments about Sue's demeanor and appearance and the fact that she's doing hot pot her own way. Food is food and every home has their own way of cooking no matter what part of the world you come from. I'm actually in the process of making this broth for use in other dishes. It looks really good and I hope my version of it turns out good too.

okay but this isn't hotpot. this may be a very warm pot, but ITS NOT HOTPOT! WHAT IS TAIWANESE HOTPOT? Can you do some more research before you decide to cook shit like this cuz it's really misleading for people who have no idea what hotpot is and then in the future when they see real chongqing hotpot in a huge metal pot they would be confused

I lived in Taiwan for 14 years and think Ma La Huo Guo Spicy Hot Pot is one of the best foods in the world. Thanks for sharing your recipe. I suggest adding vinegar to the egg and BBQ sauce, it is so good. We als get Sichuan packages from the grocery store, it is not the best but it is acceptable.

There is no way a crockpot will work unless they all wanted some violent diarrhea after. I hot pot at home and lost count how many times I had hot pot in Taiwan. Never seen anything like this. I feel like I'm watching some alternate universe thing.
