Definitely going to have to try this! I'm currently working on a copycat of their Honey Garlic Sriracha sauce. So far, I've got:
- 2 Tbsp Mike's Hot Honey
- 2 Tbsp Sriracha
- 1 Tbsp Rice Vinegar (seasoned)
- 1 Tbsp Distilled White Vinegar
- 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1/4 tsp Tamari
- 1/8 tsp Smoked Paprika
- 1/8 Paprika
- 1/8 tsp Onion Powder
- 1/8 tsp Toasted Sesame Oil
It feels like it's so close but there's either something missing or maybe just a slight adjustment to something. It feels like it needs to be a little more smoky or earthy. I'm considering swapping out the regular paprika and just doing 1/4 tsp of smoked paprika. I'm also considering adding 1 Tbsp of water and doing a reduction to get things just a bit thicker and maybe help meld/intensify some of those things as well as better dissolve the powders. Anyone interested, try it out! And let me know if you have any ideas!

I remember the only Jack in the Box that I’ve ever seen, been to. I was probably 5 or 6. I also remember asking what a taco was. I was told that it didn’t matter because it was something I wouldn’t like and I got a hot dog that was not good. I don’t like ketchup and relish. It had both. I wasn’t given a choice. Blame my mother for deciding I had to accept what she wanted me to have to eat, not the kid manning the drive through, but I never missed it. Crazy though how they’re still around. Jack pulled out of Michigan shortly after. Can’t imagine why.
Btw, tacos became my favorite school lunch item as soon as I started eating lunch at school, just after my only trip ever to the box. Darnedest thing

Jacks Tacos and the Sourdough Jack, and Ultimate Breakfast Sandwich and my 3 guilty fast-food pleasures. one thing about recreating Jack's tacos is the sauce. it's not really a hot sauce like Cholula. is not super spicy and a bit more towards the tomato'y side. liek if you mixed hot sauce and ketchup together like a 3: 1 hot sauce to ketchup ratio. not sure if that would work. but that how it tastes to me. whenever i get jacks tacos, they always give me more hot sauce packets than i need so i save it and use it to make breakfast burritos, but lately i have found i like the Green Pepper Cholula with eggs or chicken. i switch it up all the time.

Yeah, but. For 99 cents for two, I'm going for the real thing. Looks great, but I'm lazy, and our Jack in the Box is open 24 hours a day. I worked there for 9 years. I got laid off because I didn't want to be a shift leader, and I was costing them too much. I still love the tacos. They were frozen put into the fryer and then 1/2 slice of American cheese a pinch of lettuce and a squirt of hot sauce. That was in 1992.

I don't know why I eat their tacos, they're horrible and greasy, and my limit is really two, after that, no, just no. And for the longest time I didn't think those things actually had real meat in them, i just figured a mix of TVP and beans or something, whatever was as cheap as possible. But here you've actually reverse engineered them and made an acceptable substitute and without all the grease, amazing!

As a former Jack employee (1974-75) looks like you got it! We used to take the frozen mystery meat out of one and add to another one and build a better taco. There is nothing like this taco but will be trying your hack which I’m sure will be a great match! Thanks Sam for choosing this iconic taco!

Jack in the Box tacos are. what can I say, I love them. Appreciate you presenting an alternative, but I can drive 3 minutes and purchase 2 for $1. 09 (they used to be 2 for 99 cents. Sorry, but I don't think I will be trying this one, but I will continue to watch and appreciate your other recipes.

during my sophomore year of college, i lived in the dorm, worked all day, took classes at night, and thank goodness, JntB was right across the street from my work. JumboJack for breakfast before work and these beauties for dinner after work! manomanoman. love this recipe!

Sam! I suggested this a while back - so cool to see you make it, thank you. I thought for sure since you were making my suggestion I’d get a knife. It’s a running joke in my house that I’ll never get a knifewhat’s a girl gotta do! #louisforpresident

You have to make JIB work a little when it comes to Tacos. I always do NO Lettuce and Extra Cheese and Sauce. Love your Videos man. PLEASE do Skyline Chili. I'm from Ohio and live here out in San Diego and NO ONE does it or knows about it out here!

First and only time I had jack in the box was when I was in Vegas. When you’ve been drinking all night jack and the box is one of the best hangover places. this brings me both good and bad memories.

I've been eatin the Jack in the Crack tacos for 40 years. I used to be that guy that ask for the Fajita salsa that comes in the sauce container. I think they used that salsa in the Monster Tacos

Followed instructions exactly, taco fell apart. 5 min at 450deg on top rack, no crunch. Finished in air fryer for 4 min at 425, this help. Meat flavor good, obviously no oil like JIB.

Who doesn’t love these greasy little f#ckers from the Box Loved them as a kid and now. I’d lean to the TVP rather than beans, don’t want the bean taste. Cheers to tacos on a Friday

Sam and crew, we have an idea, really a challenge; what we are eating this evening for dinner. Bar b sue chicken with saag paneer. I would love to see your version of this wonderful dish.

Jack in the box tacos. Are the worst tacos on the planet! You've really never had tacos before if that's what you crave. Tastes like a piece of cardboard holding trash inside.

Ive ate alot of those jack tacos. cheap. they use to be 1 dollar for 2. My friend works there he said the meat comes in a dry bag Is that why they taste so good

I have been widening my tastes to include other countries. I have bought Korean spices, Mexican spices and more. I am using the Gochugara that you mentioned.

Jack in the Box tacos have more in common with a burger made of play-doh than they have with real tacos. Theyre essentially the same. Someone had to say it.
