The first time I ever met my Dad was when I was 10 yrs old. Taco Time had just been built in my little hometown in Montana and I hadn’t went yet. My Dad brought me there for lunch so we could get to know each other and try the new and only taco restaurant in a town of only 10k people. The crisp meat burrito was instantly one of my all time favorite fast food style food choice. 35 years later and that same little restaurant is in the same place in the same little old town of Anaconda, MT. I think the same owners still own it. Any time I go through the town I order the soft taco combo with tater tots (theirs are the best) and cheddar cheese on top and of course at least one crisp meat burrito. Taco times original taco sauce is awesome too! I think there are only 3 stores left in Montana.
Im really glad you made this video not only to have a recipe to make my own crisp meats, but to make sure and stop into the few that are left when I’m near one. Thanks for the great videos as always!

Taco Time is quite good. There is nothing authentic about its food, but it is very good Mexican American tacos and burritos. The veggies are all fresh and the Crisp Bean burritos are the bomb. I've been eating Taco Time for more than 30 years, and with every combo meal, I add a Crisp Bean burrito.
The Crisp Beef Burrito is OK, but the Bean Burrito, filled with refried beans is amazing.
Also: Sam is a real man. I bruise or cut myself all the time. I have no clue until my wife points out dried blood or a bruise on my body. Fresh blood is nothing to Sam.
It's just a flesh wound.

This sinfully reminds me of a deep fried burrito that I had for school lunch, rolled like a taquito instead of a burrito. I can see mini ones made, like CJ's used to sell in the early 90s. DQ, unfortunately took their deep fried burrito off their menu about a decade ago. Lucky for me, Lou's Burgers in North Highlands, CA, still has them, so I can get my fix, when I am really craving one, along with a side of o-rings and their delicious Pineapple shake!
Like another fan posted, love to see you do a Jimboy's Tacos copy cat ground beef taco. Oh YUM!

When ever we go back up to Thunder Ba, Ontario, From Southwestern Ontario (1500km drive or 2 8hr days); we always stop into Taco Time, and i pick up a few Crisp Meat Burritos. Thunder Bay, Ontario (former Cities of Port Arthur & Fort William- The Lakehead) is the furthest East which Taco Time reaches, in Canada. It is Wayyyy better than Taco Bell. I always thought it was a Canadian Company. But could be Wrong. This may be important (Canadian Companies) due to The Orange Haired Boy King Trump now leveling 25% tariffs on ALL Canadian Made goods.

For clarity, there are 2 Taco Times that are technically in the PNW. There's one that I believe is primarily in Oregon (the logo on the screen is actually from that Taco Time) and it's barely on par with Taco Bell. Then there's Taco Time NW which is Western Washington State only (the lone exception, I believe, is Wenatchee. They've been around since 1962 and they're fantastic.
I get it if someone visits and doesn't feel the same. I liken it to me going to In-N-Out. I don't get the fuss but I wasn't raised on that like a Californian is.

Ha Ha Ha - Never criticize a man's shaving technique - it may sound crazy - but Sam is definitely clean shaven - he knows what he is doing. I don't know why, but whatever method you use, if you end up clean shaven, then you must be doing it right -
I use shaving cream and a mirror - that works for me - but if Sam uses conditioner blind in the shower - hey, it seems to work, so what's to complain about

I grew up in the NW, eating TacoTime. Then I ended up living in San Diego, eating much better food and watching Sam's first show (maybe) on local cable (was it an Escondido station. Now I'm back in the NW, and been too snobbish to try TacoTime again. Now I'm craving some. But I still miss Rubios fish tacos. Also, shower shaving is way faster and no cleanup.

Can you make a Chori Pollo with rice It's one of my favorite dishes, and I can't get close to my local restaurant. It's an amazing blend of chicken, rice, chorizo, sour cream, hot sauce, queso (and salad if interested. Whole thing is covered in that delicious creamy queso cheese. Put it all in a yummy tortilla and good lord, it's amazing.

I make a beef mixture similar to this pretty regular, sometimes with a little bit of black beans and corn. Kinda comes out like empanada filling. I use it various ways from add in to ramen to sloppy joe style sandwiches. Thanks for showing me a new one! Cool trick cutting off part of the tortilla, simple idea but just never thought of it.

I make these all the time but I roll the tortilla on a 3/4 in. dowel, seal it with egg wash and freeze them overnight. make up the meat mix, let it cool and remove the dowels and use a jerky cannon with a 8 in. sausage stuffing tube to fill the tortillas. I make up 20 at a time and just vac pack them.

Sam, I’m a huge, huge fan. Honestly you’ve really inspired me to enjoy cooking. But, I have your Nakiri 8 knife, i love everything about it except the logo on the blade. It sucks, and i have to be extra careful not to remove it when i clean it. Sorry for the positive turned negative comment.

I’m up here in South Puget Sound stopped in my local taco time. Got myself a crisp beef burrito meal. and now they sell them frozen in a four pack. Sweet deal. I left a comment a long time ago. Don’t know if you’ve done it but a Cornish pasty beg that be a nice video. MaK

Closest TacoTime to SoCal is in Las Vegas at the TA (NV-160 across from Bass Pro. Next closest is St George UT, Elko NV, and Richfield UT. SLC-UT area is the heartland of TacoTime presence. Oddly, the corporate office is in AZ, where there are no TacoTime locations to be found.

I shave in the shower, but I have a steam-proof mirror on the wall and I just use bath soap to lubricate my face prior to shaving. I can see what I'm doing and since I've been in the shower for a bit before shaving, my beard is nice and soft and easily shaved.

I do quite enjoy the taco time crisp beef burrito, but they aren’t a great mex Rex restaurant.
Their other food is mid and the prices are high, with pretty long wait times. They also have the worst, most watered down fountain drinks I’ve ever had.

The Crisp Meat and Crisp Bean are both solid offerings but their real burritos are even better. But the real thing at TacoTime NW is the Mexifries the hands down best tater tot in the world. And the hot sauce is the perfect compliment to them.

I second your shaving method Sam! Conditioner works, shampoo, body wash all work. Who needs a stinkin mirror!
Oh, yeah the taco looks yummy too. I am going to try the air fryer route so that I don't have to eat it with a defibrillator.

reply

Your name is on the show, do what you want, take that second or third bite, we don't care. When you can't stop eating, we know it's damn good. No one cares what Max thinks about his second bite issue. That's a Max problem, not a you or us problem.

LOL. I shave in the shower as well. You gotta be fast in the MC boot so I've done it since. Usually I just use bar soap. I buy the good stuf not tha box store brands. Never an issue. You can feel what you miss. I go up the entire way.
reply

Aren't those just flautas/taquitos.
Maybe they don't know what a burrito is in the Pacific Northwest. Or maybe they just want to trick people into thinking they're getting more food than they're going to get dang it! I'm hungry now!
