Garlic Planting Tips Hella: aaahhh thankyou. That explains why my garlic grows a little but then stops and does nothing but gradually shrivel up and die. I tried planting the supermarket (organic) bulbs that sprouted, but they did exactly as you said. :( Off to the nursery for me.

Good information as usual Laura. Just one comment though. You mentioned that once you separate all cloves for planting that you can leave the coating on the garlic heads. Is the crucial to the success of a grill harvest?

When you amend your beds, and keep adding soil and land and sea to them, after a couple of years do you have to take out some soil to make room for those additions? Help!

If you love Thai food, you need Thai garlic - it has a very distinct bold flavor and the cloves are small. I have a raised bed planted now - I will send you some in July 19.
