Planting More Hydrangeas Garden Answer Rhythmblood27: I am ready to plant a Panicle Hydrangea. Fire Light? The description pamphlet that comes with it states it can transform to a pomegranate-red in late summer. But I keep reading & seeing videos about use of acidic additives to soil to turn them blue, but use of lime to improve the pink color. At my local garden center they suggested use of Holly-tone Evergreen & Azalea Food, but looks Nitrogen & Sulfer based. I don't see any mention of lime. Didn't they suggest the wrong fertilizer? And secondly should I use lime AND another source of fertilizer? Thanks RB

Hi,
My landscaper planted 2 Hydrangeas in my landscape this year (nearing Fall. Wasn't sure what type, but hearing your video I'm sure the are the Mophead type and had several blooms when planted. Both had brown spots on the leaves which fell off within the 1st month or so. Both appear to be pushing out new leaves which look a whole lot better. My concern is that he planted them in an area that is fill shade, albeit bright shade. Do you think they'll survive in this space? If not, shame on the landscaper because he should have known!
Thanks much.

I have an area where a tree was cut down that would be beautiful with a hydrangea. It gets morning sun. My soil is somewhat clay, but I have worked hard to get the soil in shape. There are two knockout roses close to the street and 10-12 feet of open space.
What variety of hydrangea would you suggest?

Gorgeous property. Looks like you're living a dream.
I'd like to know if hydrangeas will do well in Eastern Washington zone 6 on the north side of the house. We are building a new porch on the front of the house and I have dreams of planting several varieties of hydrangea in front of the porch.

I planted hydrangeas, and they get sun until about three in the afternoon. They have been wilting every day. They perk up overnight, but then they look horrible by lunch every day. Should I re-plant them in the shade? I live in Tennessee, by the way, and it gets pretty hot.

I have a question! You know so much about horticulture, where did you learn it all? Did you go to school. I absolutely love your videos! Can't wait to have a big beautiful garden like yours one day! :)

Hi! I just planted a couple QuickFire and Limelight Hydrangeas. I was just wondering if I should fertilize or if it's too late in the season. I live in Southwestern PA. Any other tips to get the best life out of them: )
