6 Tips for African Violet Success Garden Answer handmade: Hello, I have a hard time to understand you because you talked too fast. Frustration too. I wonder why and are you hurry or rushing out? Please talk normal to give us the opportunity to listen, to watch, to learn. This video didn't have the closed caption (cc) or subtitles. Other videos you had cc. I had AV in the past. It was hard to take care of. Now I have one here. I hope mine can make thru years yo come. Please talk normally. Not to rush plus cc on at all times.
I guessed You said food. Guessing is not a good tool for us to learn. So, How to feed the food and how often? I never had it before to feed the food.
Temperature? How. Air conditioning the house during the Summer or too warm outside. How? Suggestions?
Please let me know. Thanks.

I inherited an African violet from a coworker. I believe it has been around for years, but it remains to be only about 7-8 inches in diameter. The leaves are a dark green, not bright like yours. And there is a lot of stem underneath where leaves have faded. It lives on my desk at work (fluorescent lighting all day + a grow light 1-2 days a week. It has been sending out 2 flower spikes (for lack of the proper term) at a time when it blooms, and I get about 6 blooms on each. It also grows new leaves from the center. Because it is growing and blooming, I feel like it is relatively happy. But because it is remaining the same size and looks nothing like yours, I am afraid I could be doing better. Any advice?

So I had a gorgeous african violet but unfortunately my dog got up and knocked it down. broke the container, violet landed upside down and broke flowers and leaves.
I replanted it and cut back the broken bits. But it's really not doing well. The remaining flowers and leaves are dying.
Is this poor fellow done or can I cut it back completely and will it regrow? Thanks for any assistance.

My grandmother used to always grow these - I have just past by somebody's house this week with African Violets on the window sill and I thought I should get some, sort of in my grandmother's memory. So thank you for these great tips! Though I do not think I can get a specific African Violets potting soil here in the Netherlands: -(

Unfortunately I don't have the best growing conditions. I live in a Unit townhouse. I have the patio door in the living. It's cold in here all winter since it's electric heat and very hot in the summer without a/c. None of my Violets have died but they are slow growing. I just do the best I can for them.

I've never had a plant of any kind. Someone got me an AV for my birthday. The first time I saw the leaves and flowers reach up in response to the sun, it was like they were praising God, and I vowed that I had to keep it alive and thriving. Thank you for the video because I was struggling to do so.

Thank you for this video. Maybe you could answer a question for me. My violet has been in the same pot for years and seems to be very happy. It blooms often. I know it's pretty root bound though. Should I move it up to a larger pot? If so, is there a particular time of year that's better?

I wish in the first 30 seconds (when talking about a good VS bad root system) that you would have inserted a picture of what is good VS bad root system. Sorry first timer here with violets! And first timer with house plants/ANY plants in general! Thanks for making this video! SUBBED!

The African Violets I have on a shelf in my bathroom are massive and full of blooms. They get great light (but not direct) from the bathroom window, and some of the humidity from the shower. It's a great place to grow them if it is possible to do so. :)

My kids just knocked over my 6 year old violet yesterday. I lost almost half of the leaves and a good chunk out of my pot (a triangle size 2x2 approx. What should I do? Repot? Leave it? This baby is trying to put up 6 clusters of blooms
