3 Methods of Composting Garden Answer Seana: Where I live in Canada the city collects compostable materials weekly and processes them into compost. This includes household kitchen waste as well as green residues such as leaves, weeds, and plants. Its always shocking to me when I hear that there are places in North America that still throw these things in the trash for no reason! Composting when you live in an urban environment is tough, but I suppose those worm things could do the trick.

Our household produces a small waist can full of food scraps every single week I wonder what size of bin I would need? Especially out in the northern land where the winters last 6 months sometimes more where it's very cold out and moist all the time. I don't think I want to do this indoors at all. Any wise suggestions, I have gardens plans out back.

Thank you for doing a video on the different types of composting. We want to start doing this correctly. Right now, my husband just has a pile of grass & kitchen scraps in the backyard. He hasn't been turning it very much if at all. Ugh! I also LOVE the cat photobombing the video! Hahahahaha! Thank you for sharing these videos!

Your little kitty is sooooo cute! distracted me towards the end of your video. Those first two composters are very interesting(I only knew of the third method. Do you know if they can be found/bought here in Europe too?

That was a very informative video. I think I'd prefer the outdoor ones. Russell, once again you stole the show little stinker! You are such a cutie! Have a Happy Thanksgiving Laura, bless you and your family. :) Anna

It's so funny you posted this. I've been working on blog content around composting, and I've noticed other gardeners devoting some time to this topic as well. Great minds and all that. :-) Wonderful video as always!

For answers to the technical questions, the local library will probably have several books about composting. Our county library has all sorts of books about gardening, composting, keeping chickens, and much more!

Do you have any relation to the H. J. Andrews Experimental Forest at Oregon State? Just came across it during thesis research and thought the name & state & nature combination reminded me of something; )

Could you do a video on citrus tree care? I saw your video on your indoor garden room and noticed you had a few citrus trees. My little guy is doing terribly and I just don't know what he wants: (
