A Container that Will Last Through Fall Garden Answer seriously? : Did you fill that entire container with soil or did you but a filler in the bottom half way up? That's a lot of soil and very heavy to move. or you can make a false bottom inside. With construction adhesive glue PVC pipes into the inside 4 corners. Drop in a stiff sheet of acrylic or plastic to make the bottom, drill drainage hole in the acrylic. Or invert a few old 5gal buckets inside to act as space fillers so you dont have to use so much potting soil.

I've gone through most of the comments and looked for an answer to Is that entire container full of soil. Hopefully Laura will give an answer on that one. I'm glad I'm not the only one wondering that. That is a lot of soil and a lot of weight if it has to be moved. Hope we get an answer.

Laura, when you plant a container that big do you fill the entire thing with potting soil? That's a LOT! How much did it take? Is it necessary to fill the entire thing and if not what would you use to reduce the space but still give them plenty of room to grow? LOVE that container!

Lovely! Questions: don't these containers rust? Will this effect the growth of the plant nutritionally? Also, do you worry about the front getting hot and burning the over hanging foliage?
Thank you so much for all you share! Smiles and blessings.

Love that Garden container. I plan on doing a lot for my fall Garden this year with veggies herbs and all different kinds of plants. Hopefully the Hurricanes won't do too much damage here in Florida. Thanks for sharing always love watching you

Did you fill the entire pot with soil? I found a neat way to not use so much soil by filling a container this large by filling it half full of soda bottles then putting soil in the other half, Works great and you don't use so much soil.

What is the name of the daisy in the center - I missed the name and I can't find it in your list - I love it and need to go and get some! I'm going to mixed them in with my shasta daisies!

What do you recommend in terms of size when you drill in drain holes to the bottom of your containers? I've done this before but I'm never sure about the size. Thanks!

I dont know if this an English thing but I seen gardeners put bits of broken pots around the holes in the bottom of pots to improve draining. Is this necessary?
