How to Install a Drip System for Containers Garden Answer handmade: After viewing your initial review of the Proven Winners kit, I purchased two kits and extra parts BUT not until after I looked at what was available from other companies online and in box stores. The flexible tubing and ease of connecting it all together 'sold me' on the PW systems. Your video was very helpful, but I will also say that it is truly an easy system to set-up and doesn't require any special tools which is great. Also, and I am just an ordinary customer, the folks at PW were very helpful on the phone and one guy rep told me about his own experience with the system and gave me his direct work email in case I needed to ask any questions or had any issues with set-up or use. I'm still learning how to adjust the water to meet the requirements for the system I set up for about 12 pots along opposite sides of steps leading to our back door, but that is somewhat due to our changing Deep South weather. However, we can leave town for a few days without being concerned about our plants dying. The step containers were a 'test' before we set up a large system for my husband's bonsai garden which dries out VERY quickly due to the shallow containers and helpful friends and neighbors don't want to be coming over to water multiple times a day during the hottest and driest of Georgia days. Thanks again for your help and for sharing your practical tips, helpful information about plants & planting. You do so in an informative and natural manner, willing to admit your errors - learning opportunities - as well as your successes!

Is it robust enough so I can plumb into my landscape irrigation water supply so the pot system uses my irrigation system and programmer? I have a xlg corner lot in a hillside neighborhood; rock walls, mature trees, pergola and patio It took weeks and a fortune for my irrigation company to design the system in a garden that took 20yrs to mature. I dont have faucets all over because of the complex terrain. I just need a few pieces to tee-off from the system at key areas to form the hubs to add on a pot system. I can add a manual shut off to the hubs then branch off from there using the kits minus the individual timers- I will have to use the program on my main system because down line water supply is always off until the station is turned on at the main controller by either manual-on or auto program. Its the only consideration to using the irrigation lines for my water supply, the whole station goes on even if you only need to water pots. However, a manual shut off valve at the pot hub will allow me to shut off the pot system from the irrigation line for whatever reason, if I'm not using it that season or dont want it to water pots that day, without interfering with the operations of the main system.

I used to use soaker hoses, I started following your journey last summer and was so impressed with the drip irrigation system that I started to purchase tubing etc last year and had it set up on a much smaller scale. This year I think I have it completed, unless I add more flowerbeds and pots: ) I cannot believe what a difference it has made, we have had such a hot dry summer so far and my flower beds are amazing. Thanks so much for all of your inspiration I watched your videos several times during my installation process. Thank you. Much better than soaker hoses!

I have 2 of the Melnor raincloud valve units and, although i have only been using that system about a month, i love the convenience and ease of controlling it remotely. So much easier for those with mobility issues. It is worth the money to me. I started out with just one controller and valve unit and added the 2nd after seeing the benefits. Intend to get another, hellstrip-type, bed set up on soaker hoses using the last outlet to make things even easier. Maybe then i wont have to spend an hour a day watering.

Love the information. I am in Gonzales, Louisiana, and this is my first garden. small but moving along. love getting my hands in the dirt. my garden consist of flowers, etc I have found as I walk through parks (basically items growing along the sidewalk) or empty lots. but next year hope to add plants from a nursery or local box stores. love it. will definitely invest in more colored plants. realize that color truly attracts birds and I love seeing them bloom. Laura, when you showed the wifi enabled timer, I laughed out loud. My middle son is all about digital everything, hi tech, etc. He would love that! He said if we wanted him to set up all the timers on our Christmas lights that we NEEDED digital timers. He would stand outside after he got them all hooked up and point to each area, say NOW, and the lights would come on! Reminded me of the burglers casing the houses with light timers in Home Alone. lol

I really want to learn how to use a drip system. Do you just leave the faucet on all the time and the timer send the water through when the timer goes off? What if I needed to use that faucet for a hose as well? how would that work? Does one line have to have all the same size emitters on it in order to work properly? Thanks so much I just love your videos.

0: 48 I used the DIG brand from Lowe's (the box store) and quickly I figured an easy/fast way to push the emitters in the little drip tubing! Just warm up a little water in a cup and place the tubing in the water for a second or two. It works like a charm. The emitter just slides in without you killing your hands. best of luck everybody.

My pots are getting too much water with the 1/2g/hr emitters. I've set the timer as low as I can, but I have big ferns that need a lot of water that have 2 1gallon/hr emitters in them. Are there emitters that give less than 1/2g/hr? I'm only running my system 5 minutes twice a day and it's too much for many of my smaller plants.

Very helpful video. Also, thank you for not going with the current fad and having live videos. I have a couple subscriptions that I love their content, but the live feed most often have issues. Also, the individuals are so concerned with saying hello to whomever is viewing them. It becomes poor quality experience.
