Limelight Hydrangeas 1 Year Update Garden Answer Nancy: Omigosh. I was wondering and I swear YT read my
Mind. The babies look great!
My limelights (zone 7) are
The talk of the neighborhood. I did not touch them for 5
Years after planting abs I swear they looked better every year. I did a 1/3 prune 2 years ago and still
Had spectacular results.
My soil settled I realized around my house where the babies are planted. I bet / wonder if this is why I saw more
Spindly legs this spring

Are these limelight able to be maintained a size? I keep hearing that you can prune them but they still end up getting big? I bought a couple of these from proven winners. Im wanting to do a walkway but I have a smaller yard. Curbing from fence is only 2 ft but Im ok with them grown past the curbing. Would this be a good choice to have. Im wanting to make a hedge of them only if I can maintain them to be 6ft tall

Found this video and barely finished watching, went to garden center and bought 5 limelights, planted them the 18th of July 2020 (whew a lot of work) and keeping my fingers crossed. We too have harsh winters. Glad you gave an update. Cant tell you how many plants Ive purchased because of your videos. Thank you so much for all of the work you put into these quality videos. (Havent purchased any land. Yet)

I just planted a new small dwarf limelight hydrangeas this past spring, it did bloom beautifully, but so many of them, its actually laying on the ground from the weight of the flowers, its small, what should I do if anything about laying down on ground? Should I trim flowers off in the fall, or wait until spring? Will that make the stems stronger to trim?

We live in a zone 5 and I was looking into the limelight hydrangea to create a very tall but gorgeous hedge at the end of our land to give us privacy in the backyard from oncoming traffic. The place I want to plant these is pretty much full sun. Do you think they would be okay? I am literally dreaming at how beautiful a hydrangea hedge would be haha

Love watching your videos. Ive learned a lot. Questions. 5b zone. PH is 7. I planted this year with holly-tone and they are all doing good.
I also picked up some soil acidifier to lower the ph some. Can I use both together?
I have lime lights, incrediball, strawberryvanilla, endless summer blooms truck and summer crush.
Thank you.

During rainy days do we just leave them be? During the winter they would just sit in rain all day long? & all we had to do is just provide them fertilize? Sorry, I felt dumb asking but I really wanted some Limelight Hydrangea sitting in front of my kitchen window all year thru. The thing is how do I keep them survive during the winter?

I planted 3 Limelights at the same time last year. My growing conditions are humid and acidic soil (just the opposite of yours) and they have performed beautifully. They smell wonderful and at dusk they seem to glow. They'd be awesome in a moon garden!

Just wondering if youll be doing a 2-year update for these Limelights? Im seriously thinking about putting one of these on the east side of my house but want to make sure they dont stay spindly like this but bulk out a bit more. Thank you!

Hey Laura! Here in middle TN I've seen a lot of the limelight Hydrangeas. They have big beautiful blooms. But most of them look really lanky and fall over not looking so attractive. As they get older do they Bush out more and stand up better?
