Hanging Baskets Part 2: Lets Talk About Plants! Garden Answer Joyce: Have you ever used water storing crystals in your hanging baskets or terra cotta planters? I have had success with this product. My petunias and alyssum thrive in the hot full summer sun in a stacked terra cotta planter in the Midwest. Thank you for acknowledging us in your second hanging baskets video. You are an inspiration for even seasoned gardeners. Blessings to you and your whole family. I recently purchased seeds from your parents company and know they will produce excellent vegetables.

I spend hundreds of dollars every year on annuals to fill all my pots and I've never paid that close attention to the different varieties within the plants - like petunias. I have so many 'ah-ah' and ohhhhh' moments while watching your videos. Thank you so much for doing this. I thank you. My pots thank you. Also - I very much appreciate the shoutout to the midwest. We get a bad wrap sometimes of being very boring!

Very lovely selection of plant choices/options! I like that you gave different options depending on sun/shade requirements. Last year in my hanging basket I used a sunpatiens, which tolerate more heat/sun than the impatiens. Have you ever used phlox anywhere? I've tried it once, and its definitely a sun loving plant. Great video as always. Thanks.

Thank you! My tag got washed away during a flash flood of the Superbells Doublette Love Swept. Ive never had that before and I simply adored it! I want to get more of that this year for sure and I too had all white planter with center plant that was like a firework. Ill be getting that again too once I rewind the video to write down what it was.

Yea, I tried the vine with my petunias last year. Most of the vines died, but a couple did survive to give a nice looking window box. I had a deep purple petunia in the window boxes and it really stood out. Even my neighbors complemented on nice it looked. I am trying a few new things this year with the wave petunias in hanging baskets.

I can't get enough of your videos. You are so incredibly inspiring. I love watching all of your projects come to life. It is so helpful to see the process in its entirety. I really appreciate how thorough you are. Any chance you are looking to adopt an older woman; -) I'm potty trained and play well with others.

LOL. I am laughing so hard at go ask someone at your local greenhouse. I am watching this video because I recently started working in a greenhouse. And I want to be able to answer customers questions without having to go ask someone that actually knows the answer. So don't ask me! Im still learning.

Lantana is a weed in Australian the central coast here it cloaks the forest and has nearly killed some of our natives. I remember when I was little the dame thing used to cut me because they were so big. But I must admit the flower was lovely. but its not something to plant in the ground over here.

For hanging baskets the general rule is to use one plant per inch of basket diameter so 12 plants per 12 inch basket. You'll only need 5 plants per 12 inch hanging basket for bigger plants like Geraniums (Pelargoniums, Surfinia Petunias, culinary herbs and Fuchsias
