Oakleaf Hydrangea + Bloodgood Japanese Maple Garden Answer G-: I have an oak leaf hydrangea. Its huge and spread out now 8 ft w x 8 ft tall. Dont remember the specific variety. We have many varieties of hydrangea planted on the north side of the house where its offers half shade but my favorite is the oak leaf. We live in NE Kansas and the temps get well over 100 F with high humidity some summers. The most impressive oak leaf hydrangea I ever saw was in Arkansas. It was over 30 ft tall. I used to attend Calvary Chapel in Fort Lauderdale Fl when I live in FL. Thanks for the video.

Wow wow wow! I love both of those plants. I have always loved Japanese maples, they are just beautiful trees, and that variety of Hydrangea is gorgeous, I didn't know that variety existed, the color of the leaves is just stunning. Thanks to you and your love of Hydrangeas I have fallen in love even more with them and plan to plant at least two bushes in my front flower beds. I love the combination of colors those two plants offer. Thank you Laura and Aaron for another amazing video.

I planted 6 of the Gatsby series hydrangeas about 3 years ago (2 each of gal, moon, star, I believe. Unfortunately, I put them in an area where they don't get enough sun and they haven't done well at all. A couple have died and the others are leggy and puny. The one you just planted is gorgeous and I hope it fares much better. I would move my surviving ones, but have a lack of choice for sites which are protected from the deer.

ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!
I love that Hydrangea, it is so STUNNING. I agree with you Laura, I just love the foliage on the Hydrangea. Would that Japanese maple do okay in a container? What do you think the minimum size container could be? Beautiful plants Laura. Thank you so much for sharing your passion for plants!

Those plants are so complimentary together! I love the Gatsby leaf! I just bought a Gatsby moon. I am excited to see it in the coming years. But YOU are the credit for my love of plants especially hydrangea! Thank you for introducing us to such beauty and teaching us to care for them.

That all looks super nice! Hope it grows as planned! Love Bloodgood Japanese maples! Have 3. Get medium size here in Gresham. Think the rain chain color was meant to blend with building. Black? Whichever background is larger area it needs to blend in with is probably best.

Curious what your thoughts are: I am redoing some beds and adding a few more, do you worry about beds that are in close proximity having the same vibe or similarities. Repeating plants etc. .. I do take color into consideration but I like variety. Thanks for any input.

I have a question.
Like when the tag says zone 5-9 then it obviously means that the plant cannot survive below zone 5. But is it so that the 9 means iylt cannot grow above zone9 too?
This has been bugging me since days. please let me know anyone!

Hi Laura and Aaron! Those two additions are so pretty there. It's fun watching you plant in other areas, too. I agree with you, the chains do really stand out, but I'm sure they will find more decorative ones, with your help. ;-) Thank you for sharing!

Love the tree, and the containers are still looking great. I liked them when you did them originally. It's sad that people feel the need to comment on the condition of the pot. I thought the point of that video was the planting. :)
