#TeamTrees / Anolon Giveaway Winner / Weekly Recap Garden Answer mary: Some stores do not allow video so I'm sure she was just doing her job. My cat destroyed 3 leather chairs whose backs were facing the wall and until company came, we didn't see - what a mess. I since learned that aluminum foil is a great foil against cat scratch because (as you well know) cats do not scratch where we want them to - in fact that is the last place they will scratch. I saw Thomas scratching into the wood trim on the door behind you and thought about our old scratched up doors. I finally decided I loved the cat more than the trim and counted it as a marker that she lived here. Oh well. Shopped yesterday for pot thrillers, fillers, and spillers. Not many thrillers right now but here in Florida we will have pretty plants in pots for most of the winter except unusual winters. Keeping my fingers crossed for one of those. But if not, it will kill the ticks we breed here from all the deer! Balance - isn't it wonderful? Loved your Dad and his comments - so typical and funny.

Hearing your answer to the question about your dream green house made me smile cause I know its finally happening this year!
I was also disappointed about not seeing you blow out the drip system so I'm glad there was a comment about that addressed in this video, that was one of the reasons I was worried about trying drip irrigation in my yard, not knowing how to winterize it here in zone 4, but your answer made me feel better now, and it does make sense, so thank you!
I am hoping to try drip to my Prairie garden and veggie garden first this year as a testing ground, so all your videos talking about it and showing how its done have been SOOOOOOO helpful! My veggie garden is going to be quite a distance from the house and I would have to drag my heavy, 100 foot hose out to water it every day, dragging it through gardens and everything! That is not happening! I will get the solid tubing, run it to the new beds and bury it so I don't kill myself on it LOL.

Hi Laura,
I want to ask if you hire a pest control for your property? I know that you use all organic products for the most part. I use most organic products as well but it doesnt make a lot of sense because I do have pest control service every other month. Let me tell you why a few years ago we noticed some hornets in our bathroom and we didnt know where they came from. After our search we went into one of our bedrooms and the bedroom was full of hornets. I got so scare because they were everywhere in the room, and the fist thing it came to mi mind is calling the pest control. The hornets somehow made it through the attic and made a hole through the ceiling inside the house. They had a nest in the attic. I dont want to use pesticide on my yard even though I just have specific areas where they spray! Can you help me with the issue what do you do for pest control keeping ants. Spiders of other insects going into the house? Thanks, I love to hear from you

Hi you miss my question from the leaf video probably I just asked it yesterday. I really would like to know so if you could include this answer in you next weekly video I would appreciate it thanks. Here is my question.
We live in a little wooded area with pine trees all around us, so of course, we have tons of pine needles everywhere. I've heard so many things about them such as they will kill the plants in your garden. I've not experienced that, although my garden is not producing as well as it used to. I want to try raised beds so I can better control what is in them. Would you talk about the effects of pine needles and if you can use them like you did your leaves in this video?

There are many more Archana Bala's out there watching the vids and being inspired. I'm 63, have never gardened in my life, and am so inspired by your videos that I'm trying to think of ways to plant out a 5' x 16' plot of grass (always in shade) in front of my apartment building. Looking for ease of care and shade tolerant and winter interest and potential bloomers has been a challenge, but I'm not giving up until I find the perfect combinations. Thanks for being so sweet yourselves, sharing all the info and making it all look so easy (which I know it's not. Keep on doing what you do. Happy winter.

Laura you are so inspiring and do make us all feel like we are friends! My parents had a greenhouse business for years. Unfortunately their health went down hill and they had to retire from it. I can't believe no one has come forward to purchase a lot of their houses and equipment! I use to love just walking through and reading info about all the different plants. I do have a question. My mother in law gave me a huge aloe plant and some of the spikes are braking right out of the ground. Can you tell me any suggestions on transplanting this plant? Thanks Sandie

When adding biotone for root growth to new tree plantings. does it compromise the 'root strength' because the push is on root growth? If that makes sense? Like, are we pushing the root growth to the point where they're not as strong as when left to their own device thus causing the tree to fail early? (I'm not thinking of the trees that came down in your yard because they probably didn't have anything added (or maybe they did, who knows) but it's just something that I've wondered about particularly for trees that grow to a large size.

LOVE your videos! Off topic from this video, but have you grown lemon balm indoors before? It smells so good passing it outdoors so I had to try bringing it indoors! I just went and picked some that randomly started growing outside in my garden. I have trimmed down all of the parts that went into shock since bringing it indoors, and I see a LOT of new growth coming in. I know this plant likes to spread, so not sure it will work in a pot. It seems to be doing good, but I wanted to hear if you had any experience with this plant. Thanks!

I need to thank you. honestly I am a full time care giver to my adult son. who had several strokes about 3 years ago( due to brain cancer he had as a child. ) I have always liked to garden but was working so did bits here and there. This year I tried vegetables that I grew for the first time, from seed. I added a new flower garden and added to the old ones. Honestly watching you inspired me and put me back in the garden and lifted my depression and loneliness!

I made the chicken pesto dish yesterday and it was soooo good! I changed it a little bit to use what i had in the pantry so i changed the pasta to rice and didn't mixed it with the rest and added cream because i put too much garlic in the pesto! I wanted to add the pine nut but it is so expensive where i live! It is 4 for a small handful and i never use that except for this video so i skipped it. Makes me wonder what pesto tastes like with it though
