Building a House on the New Land? How's the Garden Center Doing Right Now? Garden Answer Tami: Our soil is not good for blueberries either. However, I was told by a grower to plant them in Sphagnum Peat moss and I have had really good success. I dug a hole about 4'x4'x4' and filled it with the peat moss. It takes a little over 1 bale. Then soak it with water and plant directly in that - no soil. That has worked for us. I don't know about our water though. Also, they told me that they take about 3 - 5 gallons of water a week. Hope that helps!

During the winter of 2018-2019, approx 75% of all the boxwoods in the western metro-Chicago area died completely. Our Spring lasted un unusually long time. It was so sad to lose a 30+ yr old specimen boxwood in our front garden, but all Losses are just Opportunities to plant new items! At least yours looks recoverable after a bit of pruning. Thx for all of the hydrangea pruning info - it is much needed & appreciated!

Take a small square wood dolly and put a piece of plywood on it. place your bag on it. the rollers on the dolly will help you move all the contents without you pulling on your shoulder. I think Lowes sell them around $18. or buy one of the metal dollies that can be used to move large items. mine can flip down flat bur still has a handle and I use that for moving large pots and bags of mulch.

Around 19. 45 you talk about tulips coming up and blooming in succession. I understand that for the first year because they're planted at different times - what do they do in later years? Don't they all just come up and bloom around the same time because they've all been there together all year? How does that work?

order some citric acid on amazon. you use it in cooking, cleaning, and in the garden. just lemons dehydrated. removes rust and lime, helps can tomatoes, makes pickles and acidifies milk for cheese. it also can be put in your water for that hydrangea you will grow in that pot with acidy soil

I have a seat going around my raised beds. just 2 x 8 mitered at the corners with an extra brace for support. I'm in my 60s, it makes all the difference with weeding. I take my morning coffee and weed each summer morning for 10-15 minutes, sitting all the while (with a place to set my mug)

WAIT PLEASE ANSWER THIS QUESTION BECAUSE IM ABOUT TO START LANDSCAPING AROUND MY HOUSE THIS YEAR. How do would you guys even start to amend the soil on the new, untouched property? Do you just dump compost and stuff and till it in or do you do any special procedures?
