Are You Going to Paint the Barn? Thoughts on Forest Compost? Garden Cloches? Garden Answer Kara: The visual on drip to raised beds was VERY helpful! It gave me the confidence to start with drip to a collection of pots at front entrance. The only challenge is the Home Depot supply list does not translate to Canadian addresses. In Canada they carry a different product line which does not have the same choices in 1/4 drip tubing. They only carry porous/continuous drip rather than ones with drip holes at various spacing. Hope it has same effectiveness as Im moving on to my raised beds next. P. s. I really wanted a 5th pot in front of barn too. I see the challenge but maybe a black man door will trick the eye into seeing balance.

Laura, I love that ginger peach tea also. and we have made tea the same way for years also. saves money too, because have tried one of those circular bags before after a single cup of water went in the microwave and even if you try to save it for another cup, ( as we have done in the past) it's just not as good for the next cup. Better to make a batch of tea at once. Since you have hot weather there as we do, have you done sun tea with this same tea and mint? Love you all. Margie

Regarding the question from Lynda Mello about butterfly bushes, not sure if she wants those particular plants or a flowering bush to attract butterflies. The best plant I have found to attract many pollinators is the Tithonia, Mexican Sunflower. Lots of beautiful vibrant orange flowers w/yellow centers, up tp 6 ft tall and wide plant, full sun. Especially stunning to line a fence with them! Mine were covered in Monarchs and bees.

Thank you, Laura, for answering my question on the drip irrigation inside of the raised beds! Just built the first bed and got the supplies to get it filled with foil, tubes, wood chips and compost today or tomorrow. Spring will be back next week over here in Germany after some snow and freezing temperatures last week. I think I lost all of my peach blooms. :-( One more reason for getting those raised beds up and filled! :-)

Love these videos! At 1: 19 you answered a question about the heat in Texas effecting the black pots. I live in the Texas panhandle. To add to your answer, I dont have any black pots personally but I do know that in our dry heat black paint doesnt last. If you are up to painting them more frequently I think theyll look great. But do keep in mind that they may fade quicker depending on what part of Texas you live.

I have had to move hellebores in my garden as the tree shading them died. I started doing so with great trepidation; ) Now I dig em out all the time and move them and they do really well. Mid Autumn is best, after the heat and well before frosts. Keep the water up and use seaweed fertiliser. However I have the older varieties, I haven't moved new fancy varieties. Zone 9a

Who is that outside the window? I had such fun trying to see what the person was doing! Did you have dental work today? Your speech was faintly different. Love these recap videos. It's like getting a second peek at, and more thoughts about, each previous video. Thanks so much for all you both do. It is something special to look forward to each day while we are home more.

Hi Laura! Do you have any suggestions for plants in a low cost patio container garden? Im in nampa, Idaho not too far from you and my covered patio gets a few hours of morning sun and then is primarily shaded the rest of the day. Maybe some plants that will survive outdoors through our winters? I want to add beauty to my patio but have no idea where to start!

I live in Florida during the winter months and have a flowergarden here. In December I purchased a butterfly bush at Lowe's and a few weeks ago it began to bloom. Couldn't find all the varieties as back in Illinois because the regular types grown elsewhere can become a noxious weed in Fl mainly because they don't die back in the winter.

In my area, hardware and farm supply are essential business, so I am hoping my local business garden centers are open. I dont mind going in, maybe wearing a mask, taking care to use physical distance, but I expect some might take an order over the phone for curbside pickup, and even offer delivery for a large enough order!
